Today at 12:42pm, Marshfield officers responded to 1907 S Vine Ave in the City of Marshfield after the Wood County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from an intoxicated male who stated he had a gun stolen from him. Upon arrival, officers heard arguing with someone stating they had a gun to their head. It’s been one month since the disappearance of 13-year-old Barron resident Jayme Closs and the death of her parents.  The Barron County Sheriff’s Office says it’s received over 23-hundred tips and is now expanding its video surveillance search beyond Barron County.  The sheriff says they’ve started looking at video from highway cameras and they’re also asking for hunters to keep an eye out for anything suspicious since hunting season starts Saturday.  A Facebook post going around is also asking people

An Eau Claire man is facing multiple felony charges after being accused of repeatedly harming a woman. Twenty-seven-year-old Michael Pederson was charged yesterday with two counts of strangulation and suffocation and one count of endangering safety and taking a vehicle without permission after a woman says he repeatedly beat her from June to October this year.  In addition to the felonies, Pederson is also facing nine misdemeanors and is being held on ten-thousand dollars bond. 

Multiple buildings are destroyed after two separate fires in the Chippewa Valley area.  Yesterday morning, a mobile home in Ludington and a barn and two other buildings at a farm in Osseo caught fire.  No one was injured in either incident but all of the buildings involved are nearly completely destroyed. 

Over a dozen student athletes in the Chippewa Valley area are committing to play sports at the college level.  Yesterday was national signing day and 17 high school students in the area signed letters of intent in cities including Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Altoona, Bloomer, Elk Mound, Fall Creek, Memorial, and North.  North had most signees in the area with six, including Sam Stange who will be playing hockey at Division One powerhouse University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

 An Eau Claire bicyclist is suing the city after injuring himself in an accident involving a manhole.  The Leader Telegram says Noah Staber was injured back in August and is seeking an unknown amount of money in the suit.  Not only is the city named as a defendant in the suit but so is the city’s liability insurance carrier, Xcel Energy and its liability insurance carrier, and Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire. 

Wildlife officials are investigating reports in Eau Claire County of deer poaching.  The DNR Conservation Warden said yesterday there have been more than ten people and multiple deer involved.  Officials say multiple citizens have complained about finding deer carcasses dumped in various areas.  A conviction for poaching is punishable by a fine and a three year revocation of all hunting and fishing privileges. 

Police say they have closed the case on a deadly crash between a mail truck and train. Officials said yesterday they believe the crash was caused because the driver didn’t stop for the train.  Investigators say there was no evidence of distracted driving or use of cell phones in the crash. 

Republican lawmakers say they are short of votes for a 70-million incentive package for Kimberly-Clark.  Several GOP senators and all Senate Democrats remain dead-set against the subsidies, leaving leaders shy of a majority. Incoming Democratic Governor Tony Evers says the issue should have been handled by now.  Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson is urging the incoming governor to raise the gas tax.  The former four-term GOP governor called on Democratic Governor-elect Tony Evers yesterday to work with Republican leaders to push through a
