GIRL SCOUTS SEE GOOD IN THE WORLD

A Girl Scout Troop that suffered a major tragedy is saying thank you for the support they’ve received from around the world. Three girls and a mother from Troop 3055 in Chippewa Falls were killed in a hit-and-run while doing community service on a rural highway.  The girls in the troop received many letters, cards, bracelets, quilts, and other gifts of support.  Troop members are thanking everyone for the kindness shown to them, saying it showed them there is good

PRETTY NICE TURN OUT FOR UGLY SWEATER 5K

Area runners are getting in the Christmas spirit with an ugly sweater 5K.  Organizers say the run has grown tremendously since it started six years ago.  The race started at Lazy Monk brewing in Eau Claire with more than 100 runners and organizers say the event brings the community together for holiday fun.

GOODIE, GOODIE GUMDROP…IN TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Some Eau Claire elementary students are spreading holiday cheer to seniors.  Third-graders from Roosevelt Elementary visited Orchard Hills Assisted Living to make gingerbread houses with residents.  Their teacher said getting into the community gives students a different perspective during the season and shows them how to make a difference.

TOXIC CHEMICAL TESTING AT NATIONAL GUARD BASE

Madison’s water utility is stepping up testing for toxic chemicals spreading from the Truax Air National Guard base.   Wisconsin State Journal says fluorinated compounds from military firefighting foam have soaked into the shallow groundwater on the base, and last year the chemicals turned up in low levels nearly a mile away.  The report says the Air National Guard has known about the contamination for at least three years but hasn’t monitored its spread.  A spokesman for the Wisconsin National Guard said it is

FIDO ROUNDS OUT TOP FIVE

The final organization announced was Bob’s House for Dogs. This organization provides foster care, healthcare and comfort to senior and special-needs dogs in a kennel-free home-like environment. The $10,000 donation from Markquart Gives Back 2018 will be used for their medical fund. BUSINESS EXPANDS IN WI

An electric and technology company is expanding in the Fox Valley and bringing new jobs.  Faith Technologies announced yesterday it’s expanding in Little Chute and will add more than 200 new employees.  The new building will be constructed to serve as the headquarters for Excellerate.  Construction is expected to begin in the spring and be completed by the fall.
