CARDINALS HAVE SOMETHING TO CHIRP ABOUT

The Cardinals have something to CHIRP about. Chippewa Falls Middle School is being named one of the healthiest schools in the country.  The school made the list of just over 460 schools from 26 states prepared by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.  Criteria included serving healthier meals and getting students moving more.  Chippewa Falls Middle School is one of 13 schools across the state receive the honor.

MISSING DUNN CO WOMAN

A former Dunn County woman is missing after sending chilling texts that concerned her family and friends.  Erin Vandewiele moved to Denver in June with Joe Mayer, a man she had been seeing.  Vandeweile hasn’t been seen since July 23rd and had sent messages to a friend indicating she was afraid for her life shortly before she disappeared.  Mayer was arrested on outstanding warrants not related to the case and has been brought back to Wisconsin.

The owners of C&M Home Builders and Real Estate will celebrate their new South Side office.  Owners Cody and Molly Filipczak will celebrate the building at a ceremony Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the building site, in C&M’s Trillium commercial development. Madison police are warning Green Bay Packers fans to be careful when buying game tickets on the secondary market.  Cops say this past weekend bogus tickets were sold to two separate parties in the East Towne Mall area.  The victims had responded to ads on Craigslist.  Authorities say to avoid being victimized, fans should buy tickets through reputable brokers and use a credit card when making a purchase.

WI WORKPLACE SHOOTING

UPDATE: 09.20.208 Four people are wounded after a shooting at a software company in Middleton, Wisconsin, about 75 miles west of Milwaukee.  Three of the wounded were taken to the hospital, where one was in critical condition and two were in serious condition.  A fourth victim was grazed by a gunshot and was treated at a hospital.  Middleton Police Chief Charles Foulke says officers responded to the scene yesterday at WTS Paradigm quickly and engaged the suspect, killing him.  Folk

We now know names of those involved in a shooting that happened over the weekend. TRIAL UNDERWAY

A trial is underway for a man accused of killing a Rusk County deputy.  A recording was played in court yesterday that was part of a call Deputy Dan Glaze made to a fellow deputy the night he was killed.  The jury also heard details surrounding the death of Glaze.  The trial is set to last until October 5th.

WI POSIONING

At least 16 people in our state have been sickened in the last month by rat poison in synthetic marijuana products.  The outbreak began in March, when one person died and at least 80 people had severe bleeding from consuming the poison.  Victims include people from age 16 to over 59.

THUMBS UP FOR LOCAL DEVELOPER

A proposal to convert a former Eau Claire nursing home into upscale apartments is at its final stage of approval.  The Eau Claire Plan Commission gave its thumbs up for local developers to move forward with plans to convert the former Syverson Lutheran Home into a nearly 50-unit luxury apartment building.  The apartments will range in size from studio to three bedroom penthouse apartments overlooking Owen Park and the river.
