On September 27, 2024,  Sawyer County Deputies assisted by the City of Hayward Police Department, Sawyer County EMS, the City and Town of Hayward Fire Departments and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a report of a motorcyle crash on Phipps Road east of the intersection of Gouch Circle Road in the Town of Lenroot. On Sunday, September 29th, 2024, at approximately 7:32 P.M. the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident in the 100 block of Park St., Village of Fairchild, Eau Claire County. Multiple callers had contacted the communications center advising that there was a subject with a gun outside of a residence, a round had been fired, the armed suspect had pushed someone into the residence while still armed with the firearm and had threatened to kill the victim.  The

A Menomonie man is looking at charges after police say he killed a woman’s dog during a fight. Prosecutors in Chippewa Falls filed the charges Friday. Officers say 41-year-old Jason Hoyt killed the dog during a domestic violence disturbance. Officers say Hoyt threatened to run over his girlfriend in a UTV last week at their home in Howard. Investigators say he chased her in the UTV, but flipped. That wreck killed the woman’s dog. Hoyt is looking at both domestic

The last person to see three-year-old Elijah Vue alive will spend another month or so in jail. Jesse Vang was supposed to have a hearing in Manitowoc County last week, but it was delayed. Vang was supposed to be taking care of the little boy when he vanished back in February. Vang is looking at neglect charges in the case. There’s no word if those charges are being upgraded. Eau Claire’s McKinley Road bike path is on the state’s latest list of road projects. Governor Evers’ office on Friday said there will be 921-thousand-dollars available for the new path at McKinley and Birch Street. The path will connect two trails, and give kids at the McKinley Charter School and Northwoods Elementary a way to walk to school. There’s no word when work is expected to begin.

Jim Ford grew a pumpkin that weighed-in at two thousand-551 pounds at Saturday’s Ginormous Pumpkin Festival in Altoona. Ford’s pumpkin was one of five that weighed more than two-thousand pounds. The Chippewa Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers hosted the festival to promote the Chippewa Valley’s pumpkin producing prominence.
