A unique business course is helping entrepreneurs in the Chippewa Valley.  The class on how to launch a food truck business is being held today at the River Prairie Center.  Several speakers will discuss the process of starting a food truck business, including regulations and licensing. 

A special speaker is bringing words of inspiration to the Chippewa Valley.  Motivational speaker and vocalist Ester Nicholson spoke yesterday at Unity Christ Center Eau Claire yesterday.  She is the author of a self-help book and a former addict to crack cocaine.  Nicholson says the journey to being clean has been a long one.  Her address was titled Home Sick for Your Real Self, and was intended to help those who can accept who they are.

Governor Tony Evers is setting the record straight on the state’s legal fight against Obamacare.  Evers sparked confusion during his State of the State address on Tuesday when he said he directed Attorney General Josh Kaul to withdraw from a group seeking to overturn the federal health care law.  Republican lawmakers slammed Evers, saying he was breaking the law by issuing that order.  On Friday, Evers said his intention wasn’t to order Kaul to break the law.  Kaul’s office has

The city of Sun Prairie is suing companies over a deadly gas explosion last July.  On Friday, the city filed a lawsuit against an underground utility locating company and a gas utility.  The lawsuit accuses the two companies Bear Communications and VC Tech of negligence stemming from a failure to locate a gas service line before starting a project to bury fiber-optic cable.  Last July, an explosion happened when gas leaked out of a gas line in downtown Sun Prairie. 

Madison is falling in its best performing cities ranking.  A report issued by the Milken Institute shows that last year the city of Madison fell from 58th to 72nd in the annual report.  The Best Performing Cities Index ranks locations based on worker pay growth, diversity, technological contributions and career opportunities.  The co-author of the report noted that job growth was the sticking point that kept Madison from rising in the ranks.  In 2017, Madison reportedly added jobs at a

Madison is being hit with a bitter winter storm packing Arctic air and dangerously cold temperatures.  Forecasters say Southern Wisconsin will be hit with its third big snowstorm in recent weeks.  A “polar vortex” is set to inundate the region with some of the coldest temperatures seen in years.  Lows are predicted to be 20-below with wind chill values that are life-threatening.  High winds will make travel difficult and treacherous as folks start their work week on Monday.  The storm is expected

No additional charges are going to be filed against the suspect accused of kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme Closs for now.  Douglas County District Attorney Mark Fruehauf says the decision stems from the “existence of other charges and victim-related concerns.”  However, that doesn’t mean additional charges won’t be filed in the future.  Fruehauf said Douglas County can charge 21-year-old Jake Patterson for any crime he has committed at any time within the statute of limitations of that crime.  Patterson is accused of

Attorney General Josh Kaul is asking a powerful group of lawmakers to end the state’s involvement in a lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act.  Kaul made the request yesterday, but it’s unclear whether the Republican-controlled committee will grant it.  Republican lawmakers supported former Governor Walker’s choice to join nearly 20 other states in suing to overturn the federal law.  A new poll is finding strong support for Governor Tony Evers’ agenda.  The Marquette University Law School poll released yesterday

 The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Wisconsin is up two-cents from a week ago.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is two-dollars-and-seven-cents today, while the national average is two-27.  The lowest prices are posted in Appleton at a-dollar-99-a-gallon.  Drivers in the Pierce-St. Croix County are paying the most at the pump at two-15 for regular gas.
