The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is making no interest loans available to small businesses in southwestern Wisconsin affected by recent flooding.  The governor announced today over 600-thousand-dollars in grant money for the Mississippi River Regional Planning Commission to provide those loans.  Businesses in nine counties will be eligible for loans up to 15-thousand-dollars to help with short-term funds for repair work and operating expenses until more long-term recovery funding can be secured. 

The parents of missing 13-year-old Jayme Closs are laid to rest in the Barron County town of Cameron.  Hundreds of people came together Saturday morning to mourn the passing of James and Denise Closs who were shot and killed in their home on October 15th, exactly two weeks ago today.  Their daughter has been missing ever since, sparking a nationwide search for her.  Authorities say they’ve checked on more than 17-hundred tips and more than two-thousand volunteers have participated in

Three people are injured following a two-vehicle crash in Stanley.  The Wisconsin State Patrol says the vehicles were involved in a t-bone crash near Highway 29 and Highway G on Saturday afternoon.  All three of the victims were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The Eau Claire community is continuing to bridge the gap between themselves and the students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.  Over the weekend volunteers from the Randall Park neighborhood and the school participated in the first bulb bombing event where they raked leaves and laid landscaping at houses in the area.  The volunteers will also plant daffodil bulbs this week in addition to the beautification effort.  They’re expecting to see about 18-hundred bulbs bloom around town in the spring. 

Performances at the Pablo Center at the Confluence are raising money to help the homeless in Eau Claire.  The Clearwater Revenue: A Benefit to End Homelessness featured about 16 performances on Sunday and donated all sponsorship proceeds and ticket sales to homeless families and children in the area.  Organizers say they raised about ten-thousand dollars and plan to make the fundraiser an annual event

The Chippewa Valley Theater Guild is putting on a Tony Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated production starting this week.  The guild’s rendition of Ernest Thompson’s On Golden Pond will be shown on Thursday and Saturday this week and next week at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theater.  Tickets can be purchased on the guild’s website-CLICK HERE to get more information! 

People are expressing support for Madison’s Jewish community after a gunman entered a Pittsburgh synagogue and killed eleven people.  Hundreds from various faiths packed an auditorium at First Unitarian Society in Shorewood Hills yesterday to mourn the deaths of those in Pittsburgh and to show support for Madison’s Jewish community.  Authorities say Robert Bowers walked into Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue during worship services Saturday and opened fire, killing eight men and three women and injuring six others, including four

The reward for helping to bring a missing Wisconsin teen home is doubling.  Thirteen-year-old Jayme Closs has been missing for two weeks and could be in danger.  Her parents were found murdered in their home.  Officials announced on Friday they were increasing the reward to 50-thousand dollars thanks to a local business.  The funeral for her parents was held over the weekend on Saturday.

 Republican Governor Scott Walker and Democrat Tony Evers met for their second and final debate.  The one-hour debate took place at the University of Wisconsin Friday night.  The candidates battled over University of Wisconsin tuition, health care, and climate change.  Evers attended a rally with former President Obama hours before the debate, and Walker was two days out from a rally with President Trump.  Democratic candidate for Governor Tony Evers says we could see a 15-dollar minimum wage during his first term.  Evers made

A popular brunch drink is being featured in a competition.  The inaugural Bloody Mary competition was held at The Varsity Club yesterday.  Six amateurs and six professionals created their best Bloody Marys for a crowd of community members who acted as taste testers.  Winners received Packers prizes and cash prizes.
