An Eau Claire man will spend the next two years behind bars after a hit-and-run crash and high speed chase.  Police say 32-year-old Kyle Krueger led officers on a chase back in February that lasted about five miles after hitting a vehicle on Hoover Avenue.  Krueger was finally stopped by spike strips and police believe that he was under then influence of drugs after a syringe that tested positive for meth was found in his truck.  Krueger will also pay

HUNDREDS OF NEEDLES DUMPED IN LA CROSSE DUMPSTER

A business in La Crosse is disposing of hundreds of needles that were found in its dumpster.  An employee at Earley Drywall says he came to work last week and saw over 300 needles containing drug substances.  The police department is currently investigating, but hasn’t found the person responsible.  A local health professional says contracting various diseases is the biggest risk involved with the illegal dumping.

CVTC ROLLS OUT TOUR OF NEW CULINARY FACILITIES

Chippewa Valley Technical College is holding its fall open house this afternoon.  People will have the opportunity to explore the various programs at CVTC as well as take a tour of the new culinary facilities and teaching kitchen.  The open house starts at 3:30 and will take place in the school’s Business Education Center.

UW STOUT RENAMES HALL

The University of Wisconsin-Stout is renaming Millennium Hall to honor the legacy of a former chancellor.  The hall was recently renamed Sorenson Hall after Charles Sorenson who retired in 2014, but passed away earlier this year from complications from a stroke.  Sorenson served as chancellor for 26-years, the longest serving chancellor in the university’s history.

UP TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON FOR EC MAN TRAFFICKING A CHILD

A man from Eau Clairecould spend many years in prison when he’s sentenced on a charge of trafficking a child.  A jury recently found Arthur Simmons guilty of thatcharge.  The case stems from Michelle Mayer being accused of letting mensexually assault children.  Mayer would get various items including drugsin exchange and Simmons faces up to 25 years behind bars when he’ssentenced.

EC SCHOOL BOARD MEETS TO PASS BUDGET

The tax levy is going down in the Eau Claire school district.  The decrease was adopted as part of the budget that was approved by the school board last night.  The new tax levy will be eight-dollars and 52-cents per one-thousand-dollars of taxable valuation.  Meanwhile, the entire budget passed by the school board is worth just under 143-million-dollars.

EAGLE HEADED TO REHAB

An injured eagle found in Chippewa County will be rehabbed in Minnesota.  Sheriff candidate Travis Hakes posted a picture on Facebook yesterday of an eagle that had been rescued.  It was found in the woods.

EC MEDIA LEGEND PASSES AWAY

A man who provided the weather to Eau Claire and surrounding cities for more than a decade has died.  Howard Trickey died last Monday in Florida at the age of 93.  He was a weatherman at WEAU and the station says he was there beginning in the mid-1950s until 1968.  A service to celebrate Trickey’s life will be held in Seminole, Florida on November 9th.Click here for more information on his life.

MAN ARRESTED FOR BURGLARY OF CLOSS HOME

It was on Saturday Oct 27 when authorities arrested 32 year old Kyle Jaenke, of Cameron for Burglary at the Closs home. Jaenke has been cleared of any involvement in the disappearance but was charged in Barron County Court today with Burglary and Bail Jumping.

VETS GET A BOOST

Governor Scott Walker and Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary announced $400,000 in grants to non-profit organizations that provide entrepreneurship training, or technical, business or other assistance to veteran entrepreneurs to improve employment outcomes.
