A new Snow Event is in effect in Eau Claire. The new Snow Event began at midnight last night and will last until five o’clock Thursday night. In addition to the Snow Event, the city says residents can expect alternate-side parking rules to stay in effect for at least the next two weeks while crews continue to remove snow. A new Snow Event will have to be declared every three days to keep the alternate-side rules in place.

Police say a suspicious person began fighting with Augusta police officers and an Eau Claire County sheriff’s deputy on Saturday. Non-lethal forces were used to subdue the suspect but they didn’t work and the person was shot and killed. A police officer and sheriff’s deputy have both been put on administrative leave.

The local USPS says it has sent hundreds of notices reminding people to clear their mailboxes as well as the streets and walkways surrounding them.
