FOSTERING LOVE

An Eau Claire foster agency is honoring a nonprofit organization that provides free clothing to children in foster care.  And Family Services presented Wisconsin Foster Closet with a Champion for Children Award at the Gather, Grog, and Give event held at Lazy Monk Brewing last night.  The goal of the event is the raise awareness of the need for foster parents.

EC IS A LOCK FOR NEW HEADQUARTERS

Drylock Technologies is opening its first headquarters in the country in Eau Claire.  The family-owned Belgian company held a ribbon cutting Tuesday for its new production facility on North Hastings Way.  The founder and CEO flew in from Belgium for the event.

CVTC CAREER FAIR HIGHLIGHTS ALL FIELDS

A career fair at Chippewa Valley Technical College is giving students the chance to explore job opportunities.  The event held yesterday had more than 160 booths at the Business, Health, Manufacturing, and Energy Education Centers.  CVTC holds the career fair each spring and fall.

GOT ELK?

It’s not that Joe Wiltzius shot an elk, he had a permit, it’s where he shot the elk that got him into trouble.   Wisconsin conservation police ticketed Wiltzius after they say he shot the elk while it was standing in the middle of the road in Round Lake Township last week.  It is illegal to shoot an animal from across the street, or to shoot it while it is in the street.  Wiltzius is facing a possible two thousand-dollar fine.  Wiltzius

ELK MOUND MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD

An Elk Mound man is being charged with multiple counts of child sexual assault.  A criminal complaint states 21-year-old Dylan Reidel is accused of consensually and nonconsensually sexually assaulting a 15-year-old a little over a year ago.  He is also accused of having sex with a 14-year-old near Colfax but says he ended their relationship when he found out her age.  Reidel is due for a preliminary hearing on October 30th.

EC MAN IN PRISON AFTER PROBATION VIOLATION

An Eau Claire man is going back to prison after violating his probation.  Twenty-eight-year-old Alexander Brunner was ordered to spend nearly 450 days in prison after the violation that stems from two 2017 felony Convictions.  Brunner is also being fined over one-thousand dollars and will spend nearly two years on extended supervision after he gets out of prison.

DRUG BUST IN WAUSAU HOME

A Wausau man is in custody after police seized meth and cash from his home.  Police today say they executed a search warrant last week at a home in the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue where they confiscated nearly a pound of methamphetamine and more than 15-thousand-dollars.  Ngia Vang is being held on 100-thousand-dollars cash bond in the Marathon County Jail.  Officers discovered drugs in the walls of the home and money in a backpack and elsewhere in the house.

CHAPEL IN FLAMES

The Chapel at Camp Vista in Osceola is destroyed by fire.  Firefighters were called to the scene in Fond du Lac County shortly after 5:00 this morning where they found the chapel engulfed in flames.  Fire departments from nine communities responded.  The cause is under investigation.

DOWNTOWN MOVES UP

The Eau Claire Redevelopment Authority is considering multiple proposals to build projects at two downtown locations.  The plans include adding apartments, restaurants, and commercial space near the Block Seven parking lot and east of the North Bristow Parking Ramp.  The city development director says he’s happy that there’s so much interest in downtown Eau Claire.  The RDA is continuing to discuss the proposals and if they choose one it will need to be approved by the city council.
