WISCONSIN OFFICERS TO BE ADDED TO NATIONAL MEMORIAL

There are a lot of Milwaukee Police officers in Washington D.C. this week.  It’s National Police Week, and officers from the city are in D.C. to remember Officer Charles Irvine Jr. and Officer Michael Michalski.  They both died in the line of duty last year.  They will both have their names added to the national law enforcement memorial.

McDonell Central Catholic High School Senior Charlie Bleskachek signed his letter of intent on today with Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota for the 2019-20 cross country and track seasons.  Activities Director Eric Gardow said, “Charlie exemplifies the hard work it takes to be successful in both academics and athletics. WISCONSINITES LIVING LONGER

A new study released by the Wisconsin Department of Health shows Wisconsin’s older population living longer.  However, there were more deaths in the state overall.  The Badger State had a 14-percent increase in deaths in 2017 compared to the ten years prior.  But the death rate among Wisconsinites over the age of 65 decreased by ten-percent in that decade.  The top three causes of death are heart disease, cancer and unintentional injury, like falls.

SHOOTING AT CLUB SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL, ONE PERSON IN CUSTODY

One person is hurt and another person is in custody after a shooting at a club in Weston, east of Lake Wausau.  Police say the shooting happened at Big Dan and Space Kelly’s Club just after 12:30 yesterday morning.  The victim’s condition is unknown and it’s unknown what led to the shooting.

STAMP OUT ADDS UP

Mail carriers and volunteers across the Chippewa Valley are doing their part to eliminate hunger.  If you watched the news, you may have seen WQOW report numbers. Early call is that over 80 volunteers spent Saturday picking up non-perishable food items from mailboxes in the area for the 27th annual Stamp Out Hunger day.  All the donations are going to Feed My People and Saint Francis Food Pantry in Eau Claire.  Donations in Chippewa Falls will go to the area

O.W.I COULD MEAN OPERATING WITH IGNITION INTERLOCK

A Minnesota woman is in custody after being arrested on OWI charges in Saint Croix County.  The Wisconsin State Patrol says Kimberly Rossman was in a disabled car on Interstate-94 between the Hammond and Roberts exits yesterday afternoon.  Troopers say Rossman was showing signs of intoxication and was tested as having alcohol in her system.  She was charged with her fifth OWI.  On that note, the latest plan to get tougher on drunk drivers in Wisconsin would have judges order ignition interlocks for everyone

DEADLY CRASH IN WASHBURN CO.

We now know names of those involved in a deadly accident in Washburn County. It was on Sunday afternoon, just after 2:30 when troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Boot Lake Rd. south of CTH B in the Township of Beaverbrook. TACKLING UNEMPLOYMENT FRAUD A BIG JOB
