DNR officials along with firefighters are monitoring a wild fire in the White River Marsh State Wildlife area.  This area is in Green Lake County and covers about 720 acres.  The fire broke out Monday around 4:30 p.m.  Two residences have been evacuated and another 6 are real close to the fire but have not been evacuated. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will be in Eau Claire Tonight hosting a town hall event at the Pablo Center.  The town hall is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.  The town hall will concentrate on the influence that Elon Musk has on the Wisconsin Supreme Court race.  Dems leader from Wisconsin Ben Wikler along with Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski will join Walz. Originally built in the 1880’s, the Pink Palace is demolished in La Crosse. A new development called “Haven on Main” is going to be built in its place. The new development cost 22 million dollars. After a hibernation period, the electric Bird scooters are back in the Eau Claire area. The scooters were put out near the downtown area and on Water Street. To use them, you must download an app that connects with your individual scooter. There is also a GPS tracking system so you can’t ride them in no-ride areas such as U-W Eau Claire Campus.

An Eau Claire man is safe after escaping from a car on fire early this morning. The fire department says it responded to the scene on I-94 early this morning, to find a car engulfed and on its side. The person who escaped was the only one in the car, and crews were able to put out the flames.

Towanda Alicia Brown , 47 years of age, from Minneapolis MN has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16. On 3/15/25 at approximately 1:50AM, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped to assist a disabled vehicle on Interstate 94 eastbound at MM76. Saint Patrick’s Day is here! The holiday celebrating Irish culture is held annually on March 17th, and commemorates the patron saint of Ireland. The remaining Mega! Co-op gas station locations are closed.  The CEO of the chain announced the closures were made due to a financially difficult year.  The company has been working through restructuring after declaring bankruptcy in 2023 and closing several stores.  Mega! Co-op was founded in Eau Claire in 1935.

The death of a soldier at Fort McCoy is under investigation.  Officials say an Army Reserve Soldier died at the installation on Friday.  The soldier was at Fort McCoy for a planning conference. We are expecting more details as the investigation continues.
