UWRF Early Childhood Degree to Move Fully Online in 2025

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls will move its early childhood degree completion program fully online beginning in January 2025.The change to online only will officially happen on Jan. 27, 2025, the first day of spring semester at UWRF. Investigation Leads to Poaching Ring

A woman and three teenagers are the suspects in what Wisconsin conservation police are calling a poaching ring. The state’s Department of Natural Resources says the four killed more than 100 deer in Fond du Lac, Dodge, and Washington counties between the spring of 2023 and July of this year.  Prosecutors in Fond du Lac County are handling the case. Investigators say the four took selfies with the deer they shot, and even made videos that chronicled their illegal hunts.

US Senator Baldwin Looks to Lawmakers for Chicken Solutions

Wisconsin’s Democratic U.S. Senator wants the federal government to do something for the farmers who were left with thousands of chickens when Pure Prairie Poultry closed. Senator Tammy Baldwin sent a letter to the USDA this week, asking if there is anything that can be done to help the farmers who are now caring for tens of thousands of unwanted chickens. UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Steps Down

The chancellor at UW-Oshkosh is leaving. Chancellor Andrew Leavitt yesterday announced that he is resigning once the spring semester ends. Leavitt said he is leaving so UW-Oshkosh can have the ‘fresh vision and inventiveness it deserves.’ Leavitt has not been popular with Oshkosh faculty members because of the spending cuts he’s supported. Leavitt is also leaving as Oshkosh continues to struggle to bring kids to campus, and to get them to graduate. Leavitt has been chancellor in Oshkosh since 2014.

Search to Replace Workers Ahead of Election Day

They need new election workers in one central Wisconsin community. All three people who work in the election office in Westfield resigned this week. Westfield is in Marquette County, in the middle of the state. There are just 800 people in the town, but the resignations come as early, in-person voting is set to begin next week. Reports say the three election workers who quit left their jobs because of the longstanding dispute in Westfield over a local recall election

WI Sees Widespread Moderate Fire Danger, Local Burn Bans in Place

Most of Wisconsin is in moderate fire danger this afternoon. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says most of the western two thirds of the state, and the northeastern corner of the state, is under moderate fire danger. First Trapping Seasons Set to Open

The first trapping seasons of the year in Wisconsin will open this weekend. Coyote, fox, and raccoon trapping seasons will start on Saturday and run until February fifteenth. The Wisconsin DNR says traps may be on public lands throughout the season. The department recommends staying on trails and preventing pets from straying off to avoid injuries. CLICK HERE FOR MORE.
