It’s only fair that Christian Yelich be the one to deliver a new puppy to a Muskego family.  Yelich yesterday surprised Libby and Lola Labodda with a new puppy, named Yeli, after they brought a sign to a Brewers game last month that said if Yelich hit a homerun, their dad would buy them a puppy.  He did.  And yesterday, he delivered the girls the dog at Miller Park. WALKER IN NEW ROLE

Former Governor Scott Walker is the new national honorary chairman of the Institute for Reforming Government.  The Wisconsin-based group announced his addition to the organization today.  Officials say Walker’s experience will make him a valuable asset as the group looks to offer policy solutions to leaders in government.  Walker says the institute’s mission is about furthering conservative reform across the country.

LAKE ALTOONA TO BE RAISED

The Eau Claire County Parks & Forest Department announces that the Lake Altoona water level will begin to be raised to normal summer elevation beginning on Monday, April 29. It has been determined that ice-off conditions now exist on the lake. Lake front property owners will have through April 28 to do any lake front improvements to their property before the level begins to rise on April 29. MEDICAL EPISODE CAUSES CRASH

A man is recovering after needing to be rescued from his car after a crash near Eau Claire.  The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department says the man veered off the road near Highway 37 and HH Saturday morning and hit some trees.  Rescue crews had to pry the man from his car but he was conscious and taken to a local hospital.  The sheriff’s department says a medical episode caused by diabetes is what led to the crash.

GARAGE FIRE IN WASHINGTON

No one is hurt after a house fire in the Town of Washington.  According to Township Fire, firefighters responded to Canterbury Road just north of Interstate-94 yesterday and saw smoke coming from a closed-in garage when they got there.  The fire was put out quickly and it was determined it started in the engine compartment of a car in the garage.

UW STOUT TO HOST RAP ARTIST

A nationally recognized rap and hip hop artist is performing at University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie this week.  Reports say Mike Stud will perform at the Great Hall of Memorial Student Center tomorrow night at eight o’clock.  Tickets are still available through University Ticketing and at the door.

FLAPJACKS BRING GREENBACKS

A pancake feed fundraiser in Chippewa Falls is raising money for agriculture education.  Reports say the 9th Annual Chippewa Falls FFA pancake feed and silent auction was held over the weekend where about 350 people came to eat and donate money.  Organizers say all the money raised at the event will go towards scholarships for graduating seniors.

WI SEES BOOST IN GREEN GIGS

The state of Wisconsin’s green economy is growing.  A new study from the  Environmental Entrepreneurs and the Clean Energy Trust say Wisconsin is adding clean energy jobs while other states are not.  The groups say that energy efficiency and renewable energy generation were two of the state’s fastest growing job markets last year.

OLD DNA KIT TESTING LEADS TO NEW CASES

Wisconsin’s Attorney General says prosecutors are pushing ahead with five cases made because the state tested old DNA kits.  Attorney General Josh Kaul on Friday said the five cases were the first to be turned over after labs tested almost one thousand old sexual assault kits.  Wisconsin is working its way through about six thousand of the old kits.  Kaul says the tests have lead to charges in Winnebago, Waupaca, Rock, Oneida, and Milwaukee counties.
