READY, SET….GO PACK GO!

Crews at St. Norbert College are getting ready for the Packers to open training camp.  Longer than average twin-size mattresses are being moved in as are individual air conditioning units.  Green Bay players will report to the De Pere campus on Sunday and will call that home until they break camp in August.  Training camp kicks off Thursday July 25th.

CRUISIN’ FOR CRUISERS

State Troopers from across Wisconsin are looking to win votes for the Best Looking Trooper Cruiser in the nation.  The winning cruiser will be featured on the State Trooper’s 2020 calendar.  The American Association of State Troopers have posted photos of cruisers from every state.  The pictures and a ballot are posted on SurveyMonkey-dot-com.

RUSK CO. TORNADO CONFIRMED

The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in Rusk County yesterday evening.  The NWS says the twister touched down near Bruce and Ladysmith around 7:20. No damage has been reported but the NWS is in Rusk looking for damage today.

WOMAN CONVICTED OF WI MURDER RELEASED TODAY

A Marathon County woman convicted of murder is being released from prison today.  Lori Esker was convicted of strangling Lisa Cihaski to death in 1989 when Esker was 21-years-old.  The Department of Corrections says Esker was recommended for a discretionary release last month and it was approved a week later.

FAIR WEATHER FANS

Attendance is up for another year at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair.  The fair’s executive director says he doesn’t have exact numbers but this year’s attendance was more than last year’s 92-thousand people.  He says good weather was a big factor in this year’s turnout.

POSSIBLE TORNADO TOUCHDOWN IN RUSK CO.

The jury is still out on what kind of storm knocked down trees and knocked out power in Rusk and Barron counties.  The National Weather Service is sending teams to Rusk County today to see if a tornado touched down last night.  Barron County’s sheriff is blaming strong straight-line winds for damage there.  There are no reports of any serious injuries.

The issue making waves in The City of Clear Water will now instead heat up Cinder City. YOU CAN ROLL ACROSS PAINT CREEK BRIDGE

The bridge to Lafayette in Chippewa County is once again open.  The county opened the bridge at Paint Creek on 195th Street this week.  It had been closed since a partial collapse last year.  Chippewa County only paid about 10-percent of the one-point-three-million-dollars it cost to build the new bridge, the rest of the money came from Madison or Washington D.C.

TRAINING EXERCISES IN OUR AREA

Don’t be surprised if you see a lot of military vehicles in Monroe and Juneau counties this week.  The Wisconsin National Guard is hosting a training exercise.  The Patriot North drill will last until Thursday at Volk Field in Camp Douglas and Fort McCoy in Tomah.  The idea is to help Wisconsin troops work better with local first responders to prepare for natural disasters and the aftermath of a storm.

SOLAR FEE BURNS OUT

Green groups in Wisconsin are happy that the state’s largest power company is dropping a proposed fee on people who have solar panels on their homes.  Renew Wisconsin and the Sierra Club both say it’s good news that We Energies yesterday agreed to drop the 180 dollar-a-year solar fee from it’s rate increase.  The groups said it was a barrier to green energy.  We Energies is looking to raise rates on customers six-percent over the next two years to help pay for what’s being
