WI LAW FIRM SUES JUUL

A Wisconsin law firm is suing a vape company on behalf of electronic cigarette users in several states.  Crueger Dickinson LLC announced yesterday that it’s filed suits against vape manufacturer JUUL in Wisconsin, Illinois, Florida, New Jersey and Washington.  The firm issued a statement yesterday, saying JUUL uses deceptive marketing practices to target teenagers, and it’s users are exposed to serious health problems.  This is the first suit of its kind out of Wisconsin.

JUMP AT THE PUMP

The average cost for regular gas in Wisconsin is up eight-cents-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is two-dollars-and-57-cents today, while nationwide it’s two-66.  The highest prices are posted in the northern counties of Price and Douglas at two-80 for regular.  Milwaukee County is posting the lowest average price at two-54-a-gallon today.

CRASH KILLS ONE, SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL

We now know more about those involved in an accident that closed Highway B for nearly 3 hours. On Thursday, September 19 just after 6:30 the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a 2-vehicle crash on County Road B at 18th Street north of Rice Lake. Initial investigation shows a truck driven by 48-year-old Thomas Lamm of Boyceville was travelling south on 18th Street and failed to stop at the stop sign at 18th Street and Highway B

RICE LAKE MAN DEAD AFTER CRASH

A Rice Lake man is dead from a crash in Rusk County.  The county sheriff’s office says Nicholas Wisti missed a turn on County Highway O in Wilkinson early Thursday morning and crashed into a ditch and rolled.  Wisti was thrown from his truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

DEADLY CRASHES IN MONROE CO.

Two people who died in separate crashes in Monroe County earlier this week are identified.  The county sheriff’s office says Phyllis Mellen died in a crash early Monday morning near Highway 33 and County Highway PC.  Kurt Hauge is also recovering from an injury suffered in that crash.  Larry Jurgens was also involved in a crash Monday morning on Highway 12.  He later died at the hospital.

RED LIGHT ON EVERS RED FLAG LAW

Wisconsin’s governor says he wants to get guns out of the hands of people who he doesn’t think should have them. Governor Tony Evers yesterday stood with Democratic lawmakers to push for a new red flag law that would allow police or family members to ask a judge to take someone’s guns away. JUDGE ROLLS BACK JAIL SENTENCE FOR WAL-MART THEIF

A woman wanted for a string of thefts from western Wisconsin Walmarts will not be going to prison. A St. Croix County judge yesterday sentenced Tempestt Robinson to three years of probation. Authorities say Robinson stole thousands of dollars from Walmart stores in St. Croix County, and she even went as far as Eau Claire during her crime spree. In addition to the probation, Robinson will have to complete 100 hours of community service.

FROM BUNKER TO CELL?

The man who lived in a bunker in the Wisconsin woods for three years is likely heading behind bars. Prosecutors in Portage County yesterday said 44-year-old Jeremiah Button agreed to a plea deal yesterday. Button hid-out in a homemade bunker for years in order to avoid a child pornography charge. A judge will sentence Button later today.
