Jayme Closs’ family is celebrating a milestone in her return.  Yesterday marked one month since Jayme escaped her captor and found help that got her safely home.  The Facebook page Healing for Jayme Closs showed a post Saturday saying that she is doing well and asked people to wear something blue yesterday or change their profile picture to a blue butterfly in honor of Jayme.

GOV. EVERS LOOKING TO PIPE IN MONEY TO REPLACE LEAD

Governor Tony Evers wants to borrow millions of dollars to replace lead pipes in older neighborhoods across the state.  The governor wants to allow the Department of Natural Resources and the state’s ag department to borrow the money over the next two years.  Evers campaigned on a pledge to clean-up the state’s drinking water.  No one is saying where the money will come from to repay the loans.

Many Chinese students at UW-Eau Claire are still celebrating the Chinese New Year.  The Chinese Students and Scholars Association hosted a celebration yesterday with music, food, and dance.  Many students brought their host families along to teach them about Chinese culture.

A DOG’GONE GOOD TIME

FUR your viewing pleasure, The Westminster Dog Show gets underway today at Madison Square Garden in New York.  Two new dog breeds will make their debut this year, the Nederlandse kooikerhondje [[ NAY-dehr-lahn-seh KOY-kehr-huhnd-jeh ]] and the Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen [[ grif-ON vahn-dee-AHN ]].  The kooikerhondje originates in the Netherlands and looks like a mix between an English Springer Spaniel and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  The show has some three-thousand dogs competing and runs February 11th and 12th.

And…for the first time in over a decade, you can reach for a new flavor. Coca-Cola is introducing a newbie- orange vanilla. Coke has experimented with other flavors for its zero-calorie offshoot, Diet Coke, but never for the main soda itself.  A consumer analyst said the new flavor is all about raising awareness for a brand that has recently suffered some customer decline.  Orange Vanilla will also be offered in the Zero Sugar version. Orange ya glad I didn’t say BANANA

SNOWMOBILE DEATH IN DUNN CO.

We now know the name of the man killed in a snowmobile accident in Dunn County. It was on Saturday, night just after 7:30, a report came in of a snowmobile crash that occurred near Colfax.  It was reported that the snowmobile operator, 29 year old Brenden Shutts was unconscious and he was pronounced dead at the scene, That crash remains under investigation and The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says multiple snowmobile crashes Friday and Saturday killed at least five people

An injury involving a snow plow sends one to the hospital. On Friday just before noon, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Eau Claire Post received a report of a car versus snowplow crash on I-94 westbound near mile marker 27 in St. Croix County near Woodville. WI EXPLORING LARGE SOLAR FARM

State utilities and environmental groups are coming together to support a solar energy project, but regulators and consumer advocates remain skeptical.  Madison Gas & Electric and Wisconsin Public Service Corp. are proposing to buy 300 megawatts’ worth of solar panels in a rural, southwestern part of the state.  The 2700-acre solar farm would be Wisconsin’s first large-scale solar project and among the largest in the country.  The executive director of the Citizens Utility Board, Tom Content, says customer costs are top of mind,
