EVERS SIGNS TELEHEALTH REIMBURSEMENT BILL

Medicaid reimbursement for telehealth services is being expanded in Wisconsin.  Governor Tony Evers signed a bill today in Richland Center which covers reimbursement for provider-to-provider consultations and the transmitting of patients medical data.  Telehealth services have become a critical resource for people throughout rural Wisconsin.

SAFETY REMINDERS AHEAD OF THANKSGIVING

Health and fire officials in Wisconsin are urging safety in the preparation of the Thanksgiving feast.  Firefighters remind people that home cooking fires happen most often on Thanksgiving so it’s important to stay in the kitchen when cooking anything.  The CDC and USDA say under-cooking the turkey is the most common problem and they have posted tips about handling and cooking the turkey properly.

WOMAN RECOVERING AFTER HUNTING FALL

A 29 year old Fall Creek woman is healing after a hunting accident. It was Saturday morning just after 6:30 when the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call from Kayla Linder who stated she fell from her hunting blind and believed to have a broken leg and wrist.  On arrival, Buffalo County Deputy was able to locate Linder near an open field approximately 15 ft from her blind. MULTIPLE VEHICLE CRASH IN BARRON CO.

On Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 6:07 p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a multiple vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy SS and Hwy B north of Rice Lake.  Initial investigation shows a Chevy Suburban driven by Brent Burns of Rice Lake was traveling east on Hwy B and failed to stop at the stop sign at SS and struck a Chevy Equinox traveling south on Hwy SS driven by Dillen Metheny of Springbook.

DNR LOOKING FOR INFO ON SHOT HUNTER

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wants more information on a hunter who was shot in Washburn County.  The DNR says a 31-year-old man was shot Sunday morning in Minong Township and treated without surgery.  The DNR wants anyone with information to call its tip line.

COATS HAVE LOCAL KIDS COVERED!

Hundreds of elementary school kids in the Eau Claire School District have new coats thanks to the Eau Claire Firefighters Community Charity.  This year’s Operation Warm helped donate 500 coats worth eleven-thousand dollars to kids across the district last Friday.  The charity’s president says all the coats were paid for through donations.

COMMUNITY TABLES SET FOR TURKEY

Hope Gospel is giving people a chance to enjoy Thanksgiving. Hope Gospel Mission is hosting the Annual Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner on Thursday, November 28 from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is free to everyone and will feature turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberries, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie. No reservations are needed. FIRST GUN HUNT WEEKEND IN THE BAG

The first weekend of deer season in Wisconsin ended with four people shot. The state’s Department of Natural Resources says two of the victims accidentally shot themselves. One hunter wounded a woman while shooting at a running deer, and the fourth victim was shot in Washburn County, in northern Wisconsin. DNR says the shootings are a reminder for hunters to be safe while in the field.

HOUSE FIRE IN SPARTA

Two people are out of the hospital after a weekend house fire in Sparta. Firefighters put out the flames at the home early Saturday morning. A mother and her daughter who were inside were treated for burns and smoke inhalation. There’s no word on what started the fire.

THANKSGIVING MENU DISHES UP HIGHER PRICE TAG

Your Thanksgiving Dinner will cost about a penny more this year.  That’s the word from the American Farm Bureau, which says higher dairy prices will offset the falling cost of turkey.  The group’s 34th annual survey of foods traditionally served at Thanksgiving adds up to just under 49-dollars to feed a family of ten.  The list of a dozen items includes turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberries, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, coffee and milk.  The Farm Bureau notes turkey prices
