The bars in and around Milwaukee could stay open a lot later when the Democratic National Committee comes to town next summer. Planners are considering a proposal to keep the bars in Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Washington counties open till 4 a.m. Right now, state law requires bars to stop serving at 2 a.m, and to close by 2:30. Wisconsin Restaurant Association President Kristine Hillmer says the later closing time would fight the idea that Milwaukee is boring.

The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office says it got a report of a suspicious text message related to a domestic abuse incident involving a three-year-old in Eau Claire yesterday morning. Sergeant Travis McDonah says the message came from a Whitehall High School student and they were taken into custody and questioned. The school briefly went into emergency protocol, but it was quickly lifted.
