DEADLY CHIPPEWA CO. CRASH

Deputies say a woman who blew through a stop sign north of Chippewa Falls is dead after crashing her car.  The Chippewa County sheriff’s office says 32 year old Hannah Kalman from Hatley died Saturday evening when she crashed into another car at the intersection of Highway S and Highway O.  The truck was driven by 66 year old Timothy Miller from Ladysmith. Deputies are not saying if speed or alcohol played a part in the wreck.

HUNTING ACCIDENT SENDS MAN TO HOSPITAL

A hunting accident at a game farm led to a man being air lifted. On Sunday morning about 10:30 The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Menomonie Fire Department and Wisconsin DNR responded to the 3900 block of 640th St, in the Town of Red Cedar for a report of a male subject who had been shot. C-SPAN BUS PLANNING LACROSSE STOP

Students at UW La Crosse are going to get a closer look at TV, politics, and how the two come together.  The C-SPAN bus is slated to stop at UW La Crosse on Wednesday.  The bus is essentially a mobile classroom that teaches about politics and the media.  After UW La Crosse, the bus will head to UW Madison later in the week.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED TODAY

There could be a new wrinkle in Steven Avery’s fight to get out of prison.  Avery’s attorney, Kathleen Zellner, on Saturday said she will be making a big announcement in his case today.  Avery is serving a life sentence for killing Teresa Halbach back in 2005.  He’s been made famous by the documentary, Making a Murderer.

WI DEMOCRATS PUSH FOR A.G. AUTHORITY

Wisconsin Democratic lawmakers are pushing a bill that would restore some authority to Attorney General Josh Kaul.  Kaul currently has to seek approval from the Republican-controlled Joint Finance Committee to settle certain lawsuits.  Reports say the bill aims to give Kaul the ability to resolve lawsuits without seeking approval from the committee.  Democrats say this is needed for Kaul to conduct business for the Department of Justice.

CONSTRUCTION AND LANE REDUCTIONS COMING TO HWY 12

Lane reductions are coming to the Highway 12 bridge over the Wisconsin River in Sauk City next week.  The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says 12 will be down to one lane between Water Street and Highway 78 for maintenance starting Monday.  The work will last through the fall, be suspended in the winter, then pick back up in the spring.  It’s scheduled to be completed in May.
