Suspect in Deadly Stabbing Headed to Evaluation

The man accused of stabbing one victim at the Do Dodge Inn is heading to an inpatient treatment facility. Suspect Anthony Jackson is charged with homicide after prosecutors say he stabbed and killed Alex Graff in December. A judge ordered Jackson be evaluated at an inpatient facility at a competency hearing today. Once his evaluation is finished, another competency hearing will be scheduled.

Plea Deal Reached in Assault Case

An Oklahoma man gets a plea deal in Eau Claire for child sexual assault charges. Prosecutors say 62-year-old Billy Pettit repeatedly assaulted a pre-teen girl in the early 90s when he thought she was sleeping. Pettit is pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge. He was sentenced to 219 days in jail, but given credit for time served. No additional jail time is ordered.

WI Preps for Primary, Spring Elections

Eau Claire public transit is declaring 2025 “The Year of Transit.”  Community Services manager Ty Fadness said in 2024, 50-thousand more people used public transit than in 2023.   Last year there were about 710-thousand passengers compared to the 660-thousand passengers in the previous year. Packers Tackle Affordable Housing for Veterans

The Green Bay Packers are again supporting efforts to provide affordable housing to veterans.  The Packers Give Back organization is giving Veterans First of Northeast Wisconsin a grant worth 250-thousand dollars.  The money will be used to help build a village of one-bedroom tiny homes and a handful of traditional houses where veterans will have access to support services in Green Bay.  Construction is expected to begin later on this year.

Cause of Rice Lake Barn Fire Under Investigation
