LAWMAKERS SPECIAL SESSION TO ADDRESS EMERGENCY BILL

State lawmakers are to consider an emergency coronavirus bill in a special session.  This coming Tuesday, representatives will take up the matter.  They have to come up with a plan on how to administer the two-billion-dollars coming to Wisconsin from the federal government’s two-trillion dollar emergency stimulus.

STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP POSTPONED

The organizers of the American Family Insurance Golf Championship are rescheduling this year’s event due to the coronavirus emergency.  The championship was to have taken place at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona from May 30 to June 7 but yesterday it was postponed.  No new date has been set so far. The move is in keeping with Friday’s UW-Madison decision to halt non essential in-person campus related events at least through June 30.

WI CASES TICK UP PAST 3,000, BUFFALO CO. CONFIRMS ANOTHER

The updated number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at three-thousand-and-68.  One-hundred-and-28 people have died from the coronavirus in Wisconsin.  The latest reports from Eau Claire are that the case count still stands steady at 21. Buffalo County has identified a total of 3 confirmed cases of COVID-19. One of the individuals has recovered, one has passed away, and the other is currently isolating at home. GOV. EVERS CALLS FOR HEALTHCARE SUPPORT STAFF

Governor Tony Evers wants a support staff of volunteers to assist the healthcare system during the coronavirus crisis.  The governor today said the state is looking for active and retired healthcare professionals.  The governor says the top priority is to make sure there are enough resources to care for the growing number of people requiring hospitalization.  Evers says the state needs to create a wide network of volunteers to increase the capacity of hospitals and clinics.

FINE-DU LAC: CITY LOOKS TO FINE SAFER AT HOME VIOLATORS

The City of Fond du Lac is ready to impose hefty fines for anyone violating the state Safer At Home order.  An ordinance was adopted this week that allows police to fine kids as young as 12 for violations of the Emergency Public Health order.  A first-time offense for kids ages 12 and 13 is 90-dollars.  That doubles for 14 to 16-year-olds and if you’re 17 and older fines start at over 300-dollars.

GAS PRICES FALL AGAIN

The cost for regular gas in Wisconsin is 14-cents-a-gallon lower compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is a-dollar-35 today.  That’s 90-cents-a-gallon lower than this date last month when regular averaged two-25 in Wisconsin.  Today, drivers are paying a-dollar-33 a gallon in Madison, one-eleven in Appleton, one-19 in Green Bay, a-dollar-58 in Wausau and a state-high average of one-76 in Superior.

FARM TECH DAYS 2020 “MOOOO”VED TO 2021

The Executive Committee of Wisconsin Farm Technology Days 2020 Eau Claire announced today that it has postponed this year’s event to July 20-22, 2021 because of the impact Covid-19 is anticipated to have across Wisconsin this year. Huntsinger Farms, the 2020 Host Farm, has generously offered to host Farm Technology Days in 2021 in Eau Claire. MAN CHARGED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE

A man is being charged in Chippewa County after he allegedly forced three instances of sexual assault on a minor. A criminal complaint says 25-year-old Dakota Stewart of Monroe County was accused of events that happened in October 2018. Stewart is scheduled for an initial court appearance at the end of June.
