Chippewa Falls is getting a new hospital, after being without one since HSHS and Prevea closures earlier this year. Aspirus Health says plans for the new facility are in the works, and the hospital could be open in as little as a year-and-a-half. The hopes is to find a site close to Highway 29. Lawmakers in Wisconsin are reacting to President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Florida Representative Matt Gaetz to be the US attorney general. He resigned from his position as a state representative yesterday after the nomination. Republican Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin says he’s going to support Trump’s nominations. Democratic US Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, however, is asking the House Ethics Committee to release a report on Gaetz concerning allegations of sexual contact with a minor. Wisconsin employment rates are at a record high for the sixth month in a row. The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development says October’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was, again, at two-point-nine percent. That’s more than one percent below the national rate. The state’s labor force participation rate also increased.

This year’s Wisconsin Capitol Holiday Tree will be state park themed to celebrate the parks’ 125th anniversary next year. Governor Tony Evers says children and families are able to decorate handmade ornaments which will hang on the tree. The governor asks that people explore the state parks for inspiration for their ornaments. The holiday tree will be put up in the Wisconsin State Capitol rotunda, and ornaments must be mailed to the Wisconsin Department of Administration by November 22.

This 89-year-old building is owned by the City and is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. Eau Claire Police say no one was hurt when a driver went through the fence at the sports field at Memorial High School. It happened yesterday. Police say it looks like the driver had some kind of medical emergency, and drove through the fence. The crash destroyed about 40 feet of the fence near soccer fields off the Fairfax Avenue side of the school. The school says they’re going to have to replace the fence.

There are charges against a Waukesha County mom who police say left her 12-year-old on the side of the interstate. Waukesha County’s D.A. this week filed child abandonment and child neglect charges against 43-year-old Flor Escalante. Investigators say she kicked her 12-year-old son out of her car earlier this month because they got into a fight over his grades. Prosecutors say Escalante told investigators that the boy doesn’t appreciate everything that she does for him. The sheriff’s office says the

Wisconsin’s governor says the latest round of teacher education grants could help with the state’s teacher shortage. Governor Tony Evers yesterday announced a million-dollars in grant money for non-profits across the state. The governor says the idea is to help local groups find, train, and license teachers.
