On February 7, 2025 at approximately 1930, the Eau Claire Fire Department was dispatched for a structure fire at 1113 Glenn Place. The first arriving unit found fire and heavy smoke coming from the attached garage of a single story duplex. Crews were able to quickly gain access to the garage and house. Chippewa Valley native and Master saxophonist Tom Luer has planned a very special homecoming concert. Tom has toured with artists as varied as Queen Latifah, Gordon Goodwin, Wayne Bergeron, Lee Ritenour, and a cornucopia of other stars. In addition to his brilliant playing, Tom is widely recognized for his work in jazz education. MACS Add Land for Learning Spaces, Nature Studies

A Chippewa Falls school district is buying up land owned by a former hospital.  Almost 60 acres formerly known as County Farm near the Chippewa River is being purchased by McDonell Area Catholic Schools.  The land was part of the St. Joseph’s Hospital campus, but will soon be used by MACS for a new type of learning space for outdoor classrooms and nature studies.

WI DNR Urges Ice Safety

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says five people have died so far this year after their vehicles fell through the ice. Four of those fatalities involved UTVs, and one other victim was driving a snowmobile. The DNR recommends bringing a life jacket while going out on the ice. Ruling Means Chief Elections Administrator Remains

Chief Elections Administrator Meagan Wolfe will continue to serve her term indefinitely as Wisconsin’s top election official.  Despite multiple attempts by the Republicans to unseat her the Supreme Court unanimously made the ruling Friday.  Republicans say they were disappointed in how she handled the previous presidential election and how it contributed to Trump’s loss.  Wolfe says the agency is busy preparing for the upcoming Spring Primary and Spring Election.

WI Joins 19 States To Sue DOGE From Accessing America’s Private Data

Wisconsin joins 19 states to stop DOGE from accessing millions of American’s private sensitive data. Attorney General Josh Kaul says the lawsuit claims the Department of Government Efficiency was given illegal unauthorized access to its centralized payment system. It would enable Trump’s administration to block federal funds for health care, childcare and other services. The lawsuit is asking for an injunction and acknowledgment that these policy changes are unlawful and unconstitutional.
