The L-E Phillips Memorial Public Library is open for curbside service. The library in Eau Claire announced yesterday that library pickup service is now available in accordance with the state’s Safer at Home order.  Officials said the City of Eau Claire risk management team approved the plan and patrons can now follow a seven-step procedure to pick up materials. Gas prices in Wisconsin are going back up.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, gas prices dropped dramatically in the past few weeks.  According to GasBuddy-dot-com, the average price for gas in Eau Claire is 23-cents more than it was yesterday, and 37-cents more than it was last week. In Eau Claire, the lowest price for a gallon of gas is a-dollar-sixty-four.

The number of people who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus in Wisconsin is at a two-week low. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported 199 new cases. That is a drop from the nearly 300 daily cases that DHS had been reporting since the end of April. The drop in cases comes even as Wisconsin is ramping-up testing. It is Election Day in the northwoods today. Voters will pick Sean Duffy’s replacement in Congress. Local election managers, including Chippewa Falls’ Clerk Jaclyn Sadler say they are ready with hand sanitizer and enough distance to keep voters safe. Following up on an earlier memo, UW-STOUT announced more cuts. Department of Health Services says nearly 200 new cases of COVID-19 are reported today.  That pushes the state total of confirmed cases of the coronavirus to over ten-thousand-400.  There are nine new deaths from yesterday.  More than 400 Wisconsinites have been killed by the virus.

A new elder abuse hotline is now in operation statewide.  Attorney General Josh Kaul says the new hotline comes at a critical time when Wisconsinites are staying safe at home and scams targeting the vulnerable and elderly are rampant.  The Wisconsin Elder Abuse Hotline Program also established a website where reports can be made online.  You can see more on that website with an easy CLICK HERE. Another top Democrat is suggesting changes to Milwaukee’s Democratic National Convention. Nancy Pelosi on Friday suggested moving the convention to a large, outdoor stadium and wrapping it up in just one night. Pelosi says that way people could still attend and practice social distancing. Tom Perez, the head of the Democratic National Committee, says it would be tough to pull off Pelosi’s suggestion. As of right now, the Democratic National Convention is planned for August at Fiserv Forum.
