Markquart dealerships recently announced Markquart Gives Back for the 2019 holiday season! This year the community will decide where we donate $50,000. The 10 local organizations that receive the most votes will each be receiving $5,000. The ballot includes several local organizations along with a write-in option making any local Nonprofit eligible to win as long as it is a 501(c)(3) located in Chippewa, Dunn, or Eau Claire counties. Community members will be able to vote for their favorite organizations.

Shop with a Cop 2019 brought smiles and toys to dozens of boys and girls. The event brought badges and youngsters together in Barron County. Over 78 kids and almost 50 cops took part. . Law enforcement, many community members and businesses came together and made Christmas a little brighter for some families and as an added bonus each family got to take home a Christmas Dinner to cook together.

DUNN CO. MAN TAKES PLEA DEAL IN DRUG CASE

A man accused of possessing drugs in Dunn County is taking a plea deal.  Reports say Joseph Lachance pleaded guilty Monday to possession with intent to distribute amphetamines and THC.  Authorities arrested Lachance in September after they say they found over a pound of meth and two guns in his possession.  He faces more than 45 years in prison.

SEARCH CONTINUES AFTER ROBBERY IN BLACK RIVER FALLS

Authorities are investigating another armed robbery in Black River Falls.  The latest robbery was reported at the Holiday Gas Station last week.  Reports say witnesses saw two men use a handgun and a knife to rob the store before leaving on foot.  This is the second robbery in the city in the last two weeks.

EC PUTS PARKING RULES IN DRIVE

Eau Claire is now enforcing its alternate side parking rules.  The rules went into effect on November 1st, but starting today violating the rules could result in a 30 dollar fine.  Alternate side parking is enforced between midnight and seven o’clock in the morning until May 1st.

UW SYSTEM STICKS TO CURRENT PANEL TO PICK

The University of Wisconsin is not going to add faculty members to the panel that will pick the school’s next president. University regents yesterday said they are sticking with the nine people named to pick a replacement for UW System President Ray Cross. Faculty members from all 13 UW campuses wrote to regents, demanding a seat on the committee. SNOW PACK SNOW!

The Green Bay Packers are offering some lucky fans a chance to get up-close and personal with Lambeau. All you need to do is shovel snow. The Packers yesterday put out the call for 600 people to shovel snow at the stadium tomorrow. It pays 12 bucks an hour, and the team will provide the shovels. If you’re interested, just show-up at the Fleet Farm Gate on Lambeau Field’s west side at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

WAUKESHA STUDENT SHOT IN SCHOOL OFFICER EXCHANGE

Waukesha Police say an officer shot and wounded a 17-year-old student at Waukesha South High School only after the student pulled a gun and pointed it at the officer. The shooting sent students running from the classroom yesterday morning. No one else was hurt. Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack says the officer told the student to drop the gun several times, and didn’t fire until the teen took the gun out and pointed at him. EMS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES IN BOYCEVILLE

The EMS chief in Boyceville and a top EMS captain are off the job as city leaders look for some missing money. Chief Matt Feeney and Captain Tessa Feeney have been on paid leave since mid-November after Boyceville’s president said credit card receipts didn’t add-up. No one is saying how much money is missing, or where it went. There’s also no word how long the Feeney’s could spend on leave.
