Golf Course Warns of Possible Covid-19 Exposure

Wood County Health officials say people may have been exposed to coronavirus if they visited the bar or course at Homestead Golf Course.  Authorities say an individual was there during an infectious time and exposed others to COVID-19.  The dates in question are Saturday, August 1st through Saturday August 8th.  Anyone who thinks they were exposed should watch out for symptoms and stay home as much as possible for two weeks after exposure.

Trump to Campaign in WI

 President Trump will be campaigning in Wisconsin.  In a live Facebook event with Wisconsin supporters the President yesterday said he’ll be in the state on Monday but didn’t say exactly where.  Monday is the day the Democratic Nation Convention is set to kick off in Milwaukee.  The Wisconsin Center is acting as a home base for the convention but there will be no speakers or candidates actually in Milwaukee.  Everything will be handled virtually.

Sex Offender to be Released in Eau Claire

The public is being notified of a sex offender being released in our area. 52 year old Troy Hoople will be released from prison on August 18th, 2020 and be residing at a DOC monitored residence on Randall Street in Eau Claire. His previous convictions include Possession of Child Pornography in 2019.

EC City County Health Dept. Warns About Covid-19 Exposure

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is warning about a possible coronavirus exposure at a local bar. The health department says the exposure could have happened in the late night and early morning hours between August 5th and 6th at The Pickle on Water Street. EC Schools Plans for Pandemic

Just in case the spread of COVID-19 becomes too dangerous at the reopening of schools, the Eau Claire Area School District is planning to fall back into 100-percent virtual learning. Health Director Lieske Giese said the school could face challenges if several teachers and students are out sick. The district is planning to defer to the health department to make the final call.

Accounting Errors + Thefts = Questions

There are a lot of unanswered questions about a million-and-a-half dollars in accounting errors at Eau Claire County’s Department of Human Services. Sheriff Ron Cramer says his office is investigating. County Board member Mark Beckfield says there have been three thefts and accounting errors of over one million-dollars. He says taxpayers deserve to know what is going on.

Rusk Co. Woman Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

A woman who spent 42 years at the Health and Human Services Department in Rusk County is looking at the possibility of 20 years in prison for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from taxpayers. Sandra Stiner pleaded guilty yesterday to embezzling just over 700 thousand-dollars. Prosecutors say she used the money to pay down her credit cards, pay on her house, as well as shop and gamble. Cardinals Planning to Fly Back into the Classroom

The expectation is that kids in Chippewa Falls schools will be in class, in-person, five days a week this fall. The school district released its back-to-school plan yesterday. Superintendent Jeff Holmes said in a message to parents that this year will be different. Chippewa Falls’ plan is to teach in-person as much as they can, and only switch to online classes if Chippewa County’s health department says it is necessary.
