BREWERS GAME BENCHED

Sunday’s double header between the Brewers and the Cardinals is postponed.  Three players and several staffers with the Cardinals’ organization are positive for COVID-19 which has led to the decision to hold off.  Milwaukee is taking things day to day according to general manager David Stearns.  Yesterday Stearns said, “We are prepared to play each day until we are told otherwise.”  Next up for the Brewers is the club’s home opener at 7:10-p.m. Monday against the White Sox.

SAME TASTE, NEW LOOK

The beer will still have the taste we love, but it won’t look the same. Three Green Bay Packers are being placed on the team’s COVID-19 reserve list, joining linebacker Greg Roberts.  Kicker Mason Crosby, tight end Jace Sternberger, and defensive lineman Treyvon Hester have all tested positive for coronavirus ahead of training camp, which opened on Tuesday.  Meanwhile, the team added former Kansas City Chiefs fullback/tight end John Lovett Thursday.  The 6-foot-3 Lovett played quarterback at Princeton, and spent the season on IR as KC went on to win the Super Bowl.     From

WI MOM THANKS HEROES

Amiyah Vance was back in the water Friday, a day after she almost drowned in Monona.  Her mother, Cheri Cederwall, wants to say thank you to the stranger who jumped in the water to rescue her five-year-old daughter.  She said a couple of eyewitnesses have reached out to provide details as to the rescuer.  “He’s a hero,” Cederwall told the Madison State Journal.

RESULTS FROM CHIPPEWA CO. TESTING EVENT RELEASED

We now have results from a local testing event. Chippewa County Department of Public Health, with assistance from the Wisconsin National Guard, provided free COVID-19 nasal swab testing on Monday, July 20, 2020 at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds. MASK MANDATE SEES POLITICAL PUSHBACK, DHS REPORTS WI COVID-19 DEATHS UP

Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says Republicans are ready to rescind the governor’s mask mandate.  Meanwhile state health officials confirmed 15 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.  A total of 934 Wisconsinites have died from the coronavirus.  There were 832 additional cases confirmed in the last day.

WI PUMP DIPS BELOW NATIONAL AVERAGE

The price of regular gas in Wisconsin is 12-cents-a-gallon below the national average.  Triple-A says the average price statewide is $ 2.06 a gallon, the national average is slightly higher at 2.18 for a gallon of regular gas today.  Drivers are paying about 2.05 in Milwaukee and Madison, 2.10 in Eau Claire, and as low as 1.88 in Fond du Lac.

LOCAL AUTHORITIES RESPOND TO MASK MANDATE

Local authorities are now responding to the mask order and urging residents to not occupy emergency responders with complaints. Since the Governor issued Emergency Order to mandate wearing face coverings/masks our 911 Emergency Communications Center is already receiving calls from residents concerned about this order and it is expected that this will only intensify when the order goes into effect. In Chippewa County, Sheriff Kowalczyk issued a press release urging all members of the community not call 911 or non-emergency

DEADLY ACCIDENT UNDER INVESTIGATION

An Eau Claire woman is dead after she was hit by a runaway tractor at a beach in Iowa. The Cerro Gordo  County Sheriff’s Office said 21-year-old Mercedes Kohlhardt died Tuesday after the tractor that was owned by the state rolled down a hill onto the beach she was sitting at.  The Sheriff’s Office says the accident is still under investigation.
