Hockey Doesn’t Drop the Puck

The beginning of the season for Wisconsin’s men’s and women’s hockey teams will be delayed.  The Hockey Commissioners Association said today the continued impact of COVID-19 is forcing the hold on the start of competition.  The commission says the eleven NCAA Division 1 hockey conferences will announce plans for the season individually.

Green Bay Dishes Up Week for Foodies

Fatal Crash in EC Co.

Local Unemployment Dips

Unemployment is down in Eau Claire. New numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development show weekly claims down for the fifth week in a row. That means more people are going back to work. Initial claims are also down from the previous week.

Bucky Jumps Online

Students the University of Wisconsin-Madison are taking classes 100-percent online amid rising cases of COVID-19 on campus. The school announced the move yesterday after the seeing the coronavirus positivity rate increase to 20-percent among students after Labor Day weekend. The health department said there are 46-separate outbreaks tied to the university.

Free Bridge in Chippewa Co.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is giving away a Chippewa County bridge for free. Cobban Bridge near Jim Falls is over 100-years old. The department says anyone who can move it from its spot over the Chippewa River and maintain it as a historic structure can have it for free. They say a new bridge will go up at the same location in 2022.

Tickets are on sale now for a campout music festival in Eau Claire at the end of the month. Blue Ox Music Festival is hosting Campout in the Pines: September Edition, the 24th through the 26th. Local Campuses Tackle In- Person Classes

One hundred of the nearly 200 people who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus this month in Eau Claire County are tied to UW Eau Claire. The city-county health department yesterday said half of the new coronavirus positives are either students or faculty members. Troops Leaving Kenosha

The troops are leaving Kenosha. The Wisconsin National Guard yesterday said it has concluded its mission in the city. As many as 500 Wisconsin troops, along with soldiers from Arizona, Alabama and Michigan, were deployed to Kenosha to help keep the peace after Jacob Blake’s shooting. Guard commanders say the troops did their jobs, and can now go home.
