Federal grant money is being offered to low-to-middle income residents in Eau Claire County who experienced flood damage on July 14th. The grant money is provided by the Community Development Block Grant and can be used for a variety of purposes, including replacing furnaces, water heaters, flooring, well equipment, insulation, and mold remediation. Reimbursement is also available to homeowners who already made repairs if they can prove the damage was caused by the heavy rainfall on July 14th. More information

Kyle Rittenhouse was arrested at his home in Antioch, Illinois a day after the killings last month. Attorneys for the teen say the extradition challenge involves several complex issues and they need several weeks to prepare. The 17-year-old Rittenhouse attended a hearing via Zoom this morning and is due back in court in two weeks.

The state audit released today shows over 41 million phone calls made to the Department of Workforce Development from mid-March through the end of June. Over 38 million, or 93-percent, were blocked or received busy signals and didn’t reach the call center. Only a half-of-a-percent of calls were answered in the early months of the pandemic.
