WI National Guard Headed to Battle Fires

 Two Wisconsin National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and approximately 15 Soldiers are en route to California to assist the California National Guard as it battles wildfires raging across the state. The aircraft, along with crews and maintenance personnel from the Madison-based 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation, departed Madison for California today after Wisconsin received an Emergency Management Assistance Compact – or EMAC – request from California. WI Remembers

Governor Tony Evers says today is a day to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11, but also the survivors and their families.  The governor today said there are countless heroes from that day including first responders and volunteers.  Evers says as a remembrance, today is a State Day of Service.  He is asking people to pay it forward with an act of kindness in their neighborhood.

WI Silver Alert

A statewide SILVER Alert is issued for a 70-year-old man who experiences significant memory loss.  Donald Milroy is an Illinois man last known to be in Fond du Lac County this morning.  He is from Pecatonica, Illinois about 150 miles southwest of Fond du Lac County.  Milroy is a white male, 70-years-old about five-foot-eleven and 150 pounds.  He has blue eyes and gray hair and anyone who may know his whereabouts is urged to call police immediately.

WI Sees Dip at the Pump

The average cost of regular gas in Wisconsin is down four-cents-a-gallon compared to a week ago and is 19-cents lower than the national average.  Triple-A says the price per gallon in the Badger State is $2.01 today.  Drivers are paying 2.20 nationwide.

Ballot Boxes Installed

City election officials are making it easier for Eau Claire residents to submit absentee ballots. The city installed three new ballot boxes yesterday around the city. Ballots can be requested until October 29th. The boxes will be closed at 7 a.m. on election day, November 4th.

EC City Manager Retiring…Again

Eau Claire County Recycling is offering discounted recycling fees for electronic waste collection during tomorrow’s Clean Sweep event. First Choice Computer and Electronic Recycling and W-R-R Environmental Services are also helping with the clean-up effort. It starts at 8 a.m. and ends at noon. Waste can be taken to 52-hundred Ryder Road.

EC Low Temps Aim High

In case you thought it was a little TOO cold, too early…you were right. Eau Claire set a new temperature record this week. Tuesday, it was 54-degrees, the lowest high temperature the city has had since 1946. On that date, the lowest high temperature recorded was 60-degrees.
