There is a suspect in custody for last week’s shooting at a Milwaukee funeral home, but we’re going to have to wait for more information in the case. Milwaukee Police said they are waiting on prosecutors to file formal charges before identifying the 29-year-old man they arrested in the case. The shooting, at Serenity Funeral Home, left seven people wounded. They were there to mourn for 26-year-old Braxton Taylor who was shot and killed in Milwaukee on September 17th.

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) confirms that a whitetail deer at a Burnett County deer farm has tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD). The result was confirmed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa. The positive sample came from a 4-year-old whitetail buck. DATCP has quarantined all 19 deer at the 5-acre farm, meaning that no live animals or whole carcasses are permitted to leave the property. The herd will remain under quarantine

The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce is asking Eau Claire County and the City of Eau Claire to withdraw their proposed health ordinances until a broader community consensus can be reached on what they should contain. At the same time, the statement adopted by the Chamber emphasizes the need to respond to COVID-19 to limit the spread in order to avoid overwhelming the health care system and keep businesses open. State Representative Jim Ott is continuing his self-quarantine.  Ott was in contact with Senator Ron Johnson at a campaign event.  Johnson attended the event in Mequon on Friday prior to knowing he was COVID positive.  Ott says he never came within 40-feet of Johnson and Johnson wore his mask the entire time except when he spoke at the podium.

The Health Department is addressing the posting of signs on area businesses over the weekend. Mainly in downtown Eau Claire, individuals have been posting generic isolation and quarantine placards on area businesses. None of these placards were placed by the Eau Claire City County Health Department. The Health Department has not placed any isolation or quarantine placards on any establishment, residence, or facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Chippewa Falls Main Street is getting ready for Halloween. The Main Street board and some local businesses are hosting a drive-thru Trick-or-Treating event from 3-to-5 p.m. Friday, October 30th at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.
