The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has been ranked as the second highest-ranked public regional university in Wisconsin and Minnesota.  The Eu Claire campus is listed 175th among more than 730 public and private universities in Money Magazine’s annual ranking of best colleges for the money.  The rankings are based on the quality of education, affordability and outcomes.

President Trump has plans to visit Kenosha.  On Tuesday, the President will be in the city to meet with law enforcement officials and survey the destruction caused by rioters this past week.  The street rioting was spawned after Kenosha police shot Jacob Blake in the back several times last Sunday.  The White House has yet to confirm whether the President will also be meeting with Blake’s family during his visit.

 An attorney for the accused Kenosha shooter issues a statement.  The law firm of Pierce Bainbridge issued a lengthy statement on 17 year old Kyle Rittenhouse’s behalf yesterday.  Attorney John Pierce says Rittenhouse was threatened by an angry mob the night of August 25th.  He says his client did nothing wrong and acted in self defense when he fired his weapon. Two died and a third was injured in the shooting.

Marchers reach the state capitol to protest violence against Black people.  Hundreds of marchers left the University of Wisconsin Madison campus yesterday, making their way to the capitol.  Nzinga Acosta, a demonstrator who spoke during the protest said the idea with yesterday’s event was to show respect and remember the 57th anniversary of the March on Washington, D.C. which featured civil rights leader Doctor Martin Luther King Junior.

Rap artist and gospel preacher Kanye West is suing the Wisconsin Elections Commission.  The commission voted a week ago to keep West off the ballot in November.  West wants a reversal of the decision.  The commission claims his campaign missed a 5:00-p.m. deadline by seconds when turning in the two-thousand signatures on the petition to be eligible to go on the ballot.  West’s camp contends the deadline is 5:01-p.m. and they didn’t miss it.

As the Eau Claire Area School District prepares to deliver instruction to students this school year, district leaders have decided to push back the start of virtual learning programming by one week. As a result, the first day for virtual learning will be Tuesday, September 8.By making this adjustment, the district will give teachers and staff a little more time to prepare. On Thursday, August 27, a bit before 1 p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a UTV crash on 11 1⁄4 Street south of County Road B, east of the City of Cumberland with multiple injuries. Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Cumberland Fire Department, Cumberland Ambulance, LMC Ambulance, Mayo Ambulance, and 2 Life Link Helicopters all responded to the scene.Initial investigation shows four

On August 21, 2020, at approximately 2:10am, Sawyer County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted traffic stops on two vehicles traveling together east on County Highway B in the City of Hayward. Sawyer County deputies stopped a 2006 Nissan Maxima for an equipment violation and a 2020 Kia Optima due to the vehicle reported as stolen from the Madison area. As a result of the traffic stop, deputies arrested the operator of the 2006 Nissan, 24 year old Billie D. John of Green
