UW Ranks High for Research

UW-Madison ranks sixth in research among U.S. colleges and universities.  The National Science Foundation announced its rankings of 920 public and private universities.  The rankings are based on total research and development expenditures.  UW-Madison, which previously ranked eighth, spent one-point-seven-million-dollars on R-and-D during the last fiscal year.

The Axe Heads Back, Bowl Hopes Flushed; Basketball Action Hits Kohl’s Center

The Badgers hand the axe over to Minnesota and will miss out on a bowl game for the first time in more than two decades.  Wisconsin was held to under 200 yards of total offense as the Badgers fell to the Golden Gophers 24-to-seven in the annual Paul Bunyan game Friday at frigid Camp Randall Stadium.  The temperature at kickoff was 22 degrees, making it the coldest Badgers’ home game since 1964, according to UW athletics communications.  With the loss,

 Wisconsin’s election results are about to become official. The state’s Elections Commission will certify the election results later today. Elections Commission Chair Ann Jacobs will sign-off on the results. The election hasn’t changed since Election Day, with President-elect Trump and Democratic U.S. senator Tammy Baldwin both winning their statewide elections.

Libertarians Push for Tariff Details

Libertarians in Wisconsin want to know the details of president-Elect Trump’s tariff plan. The Libertarian party on Wednesday asked for details of what the new president wants to do to Mexico and Canada.  President-elect Trump has said he will slap tariffs on both countries unless they control the flow of immigrants and drugs over their borders and into this country. The Libertarians say tariffs on either Mexico or Canada will make things in America much more expensive.

Lake Trout Season Set to Begin

It’s another sign of the season in Wisconsin. Lake Trout season begins December 1st on Lake Superior. The DNR says fishermen can head out on both of the lake’s trout management areas, though there are different quotas for each. The overall quota, however, is 15 thousand fish this year. The DNR is reminding fishermen that lake trout must be a minimum of 15 inches long, and only one fish over 25 inches may be kept. CLICK HERE TO REEL IN
