Attorney General Josh Kaul says fear of being found by an abuser should never be a barrier to casting a vote.  Kaul said today the Wisconsin Safe At Home Program provides victims of actual or threatened abuse, or anyone who fears for their physical safety with a legal substitute address to be used for both public and private purposes.  More information can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Justice website.

Madison Police and the University of Wisconsin are being clear: There will be no tailgating for the first Badger football game this month. Both the city and the school yesterday said they will close parking lots on campus and near Camp Randall Stadium for the season opener. There will also be a crackdown on open containers, and there will also be no Badgerville and Badger Bash. The Badger Band won’t play either. UW-Madison says campus will be closed to visitors on game

The National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) confirms that dead mink at a Taylor County mink farm have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection, the virus that causes COVID-19 in humans. This is the first confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection among Wisconsin’s mink population. The NVSL confirmed the positive result after preliminary testing was conducted by the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL).  Dixon’s Apple Orchard’s Champagne apples are ready this weekend starting on Friday, October 9th from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. These apples are only available at Dixon’s Orchard. “This year’s crop for all of our apple varieties was truly amazing,” states owner Becky Mullane. Police and the National Guard will likely be in the streets of Wauwatosa all weekend. The city is under a curfew, from 7 p.m. til 6 a.m, everyday until Monday. The order came just hours after prosecutors yesterday decided not to charge Officer Joseph Mensah in the shooting death of Alvin Cole. Prosecutors say Cole had a gun and fired it, and Mensah had a reasonable fear for his own life. Angry groups of people broke windows and terrorized neighbors

The health department says Chippewa County’s COVID-19 risk level is severe.  Health Director Angela Weideman says residents should limit social gatherings to only people they live with and wear a mask to help mitigate transmission. There are around 160-cases of COVID-19 in the county, the highest number of active cases yet.

Police are still searching for a missing Clark County woman.  The sheriff’s office says 27-year-old Cassandra Ayon was last seen early Saturday morning. Police say her parents told deputies Cassandra recently moved across the street and hasn’t been home since Friday, and she didn’t go to work on Monday. 

City leaders in Eau Claire say the city and county’s new health ordinance is not as scary as some people are making it out to be. That was the overarching message during an online meeting last night. There was a meeting to provide some information about the ordinance. A lot of local businesses, and the Eau Claire Chamber, say the specifics of the ordinance give the city and county new powers to easily close businesses and the language is too

After weeks of saying hospitals in Wisconsin are overwhelmed, Governor Evers is looking to find more hospital beds. The governor yesterday ordered the Wisconsin National Guard to open the field hospital at the State Fairgrounds in West Allis. The hospital has been empty since it was built back in the spring for 15 million-dollars. The governor wants it open by next week, and says the plan is to treat 50 patients. The hospital has room for as many as 530 patients.
