The Sawyer County Health Department reported two COVID-19 deaths of county residents this weekend. This brings the number of COVID-19 related deaths to three. The county’s first death was reported September 9. The individuals, a man and a woman, were both over 60. Each had underlying but non-life-threatening health conditions before contracting COVID-19 and their deaths were due to virus-associated complications. To protect the families’ privacy, no further information about these patients will be released.  The Sawyer County Health Department

On Sunday, October 25th, a bit before 6A.M. the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fire. The location was E17210 Scenic Drive in the town of Ludington. It was reported that the fire was located at an auto sales business with a male possibly trapped in a structure. Initial attempts by law enforcement and fire personnel to locate the male occupant were unsuccessful. The victim was later recovered from the scene and has been identified as 54 year

The Fairchild Police Department is hosting an  informational Community Meeting regarding  placement of two SORT offenders that will be  residing in the Fairchild area on Thursday,  October 29, 2020 at 6:30 PM at the Fairchild  Fire Department. The number of coronavirus patients admitted to hospitals is a little lower over the last two days.  Health officials today say 84 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Wisconsin.  Ninety-five were hospitalized yesterday and 199 new hospitalizations were recorded on Saturday.  Ten additional deaths due to COVID-19 reported today brings the number of Wisconsinites killed by the coronavirus to nearly 18-hundred. Gummy Bears are coming to Madison.  Governor Tony Evers announced today that the Haribo candy company is building its first U.S. production plant in Pleasant Prairie. The 300-million-dollar production campus is being built along I-94 in Kenosha County and is the largest project in the company’s 100-year history.  Nearly 400 jobs are expected to be created.

50 year old Robert Arthur Truitt, from Chippewa Falls Wi has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 7th offense.
