President Trump’s lawyers are trying one more time to get Wisconsin’s election results tossed out. The president’s campaign yesterday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to take up the case. The president’s lawyers say the Wisconsin Supreme Court didn’t rule on the merits of their original lawsuit, namely that state and local election managers ignored state law back in November. The president is again asking for indefinitely confined votes, those absentee ballots collected in a Madison park, and thousands of incomplete ballots in Milwaukee

The expectation is that a lot of people will want to make sure they didn’t catch the coronavirus over the holidays. Doctors now say they are expecting a post-holiday surge in coronavirus testing. The predicted post-Thanksgiving coronavirus increase never materialized.  Leaders warned about a possible post-Christmas jump as well. The thought now is that people are waiting until the holidays are over before getting a new coronavirus test.

Coronavirus stimulus payments could be in bank accounts within hours.  Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchinsaid direct deposits could start being deposited Tuesday.  Paper checks will begin being sent out Wednesday.  The 600-dollar payments are meant to help boost the economy amid the downturn caused by the pandemic.  Meantime, the House voted Monday to increase those payments to two-thousand-dollars, but that move faces an uncertain future in the Senate.  President Trump is demanding Republicans increase stimulus checks to two-thousand dollars unless they

The Department of Health confirms 23-hundred-and-84 additional COVID-19 cases over the last day.  The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is nearing 475-thousand.  There were 72 additional deaths reported today raising the death toll from COVID-19 to four-thousand-783. A new COVID-19 vaccine data page is now available on a Department of Health Services website.  The page tracks the number of vaccines given and the number of vaccines shipped to the state.  The first phase of inoculations

On Tuesday, December 29th at just before 10:30 in the morning, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash in Jackson County at milepost 98 eastbound. Upon arrival it was discovered the passenger, 41-year-old Michael Anthony Greengrass, from Hixton,  was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced deceased. On Monday, December 28th a bit before 5 in the evening, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a male subject that was shot on North Mill St in the City of Barron. The caller reported that the suspect fled in a car. The Barron Police responded to the scene along with deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, Troopers from the WI State Patrol, a DNR Warden, the Barron Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance and Life Link

Eau Claire County Emergency Management is reminding people about space heater safety. The department says the National Fire Protection Agency recommends space heaters to be kept at least three feet from anything that can burn. With more people at home during the pandemic, the N-F-P-A says it’s best to purchase a heater with a thermostat, overheat protection, and automatic shut-off in case it’s left on, or tips over. 

A series of loud booms in Wisconsin are thought to from be frost quakes.  That’s when ground water is hit with sudden big temperature drops, according to meteorologists. People in Southeastern Wisconsin report their windows rattled with the loud booms over the weekend.

Kenosha’s mayor is not saying if charges will be brought against the officer who shot Jacob Blake back in August, or even when the decision will be made. But Mayor John Antaramian is asking for peace when that decision does come. The mayor wrote an op-ed in the Kenosha News recently. He said Kenosha will not, and can not, tolerate the kind of violence the city saw after Blake’s shooting. He said people can disagree with whatever decision is made

 The University of Wisconsin didn’t make fans feel very confident in its game against Maryland. The Badgers lost last night, 70-64, in what was a sloppy and ugly game. Wisconsin shot poorly from the free throw line and could not find a rhythm on either offense or defense all night. The Badgers are currently ranked sixth in the nation, that is expected to change when the new poll comes out.
