Mayo Delays Elective Procedures

The Mayo Clinic Health System is delaying elective procedures.  Hospitals in the system are in the process if prioritizing care and staff for a growing number of COVID-19 cases in northwest Wisconsin.  Mayo’s northwestern Wisconsin Regional Vice President Richard Helmers says COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise rapidly in Eau Claire and surrounding communities.

Rittenhouse Returning to WI

The 17-year-old Kenosha shooter is returning to Wisconsin.  Judge Paul Novak of Lake County, Illinois ordered Kyle Rittenhouse’s extradition today to an adult prison across the state line.  Rittenhouse is charged with first-degree murder and five other criminal counts after fatally shooting two people and injuring a third during protests in August following the police shooting of Jacob Blake.  He claims he was acting in self defense. Brian Shook reports:

President Trump says Democratic rival Joe Biden will deliver poverty, misery and depression while he will bring “jobs, jobs, jobs.”  Trump’s re-election campaign rolled into Wisconsin and the President claimed that China has “paid off” Biden.  Trump narrowly won Wisconsin in 2016 but polls have Biden leading in the state ahead of Tuesday’s election.  Trump predicted that the upcoming election will be “all over” if he wins the Badger State. UPDATE: 11.01.2020 Missing Person Search Ends Sadly Friday and Saturday, four teams from Wisconsin K9 SOS K9 Search and Rescue and one from the Beaver Dam Police Department conducted numerous searches in an effort to locate Mr. Vogt. WI Daily COVID-19 Cases Top 5k

Health officials say daily COVID cases in Wisconsin have surpassed five-thousand for the second time.  The first time was on Tuesday.  This means the seven-day rolling average has jumped to four-thousand-230 daily cases.  More than 220-thousand cases have now been recorded in the state since the start of the pandemic.

Navy Submarine to Carry Wisconsin Name

The next Navy submarine will be named the U.S.S. Wisconsin.  This comes after U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin proposed a resolution to request the Secretary of the Navy give a submarine the state’s namesake.  There was a Navy ship named the U.S.S. Wisconsin, which served frequently since its launch in 1944 and was retired in 1991.  Baldwin says Wisconsin is known for its contributions to the Navy including Manitowoc’s role manufacturing submarines, which were used in World War Two.

EC Sees Fast Rate of COVID-19 Cases

Eau Claire County has the fastest rate of new COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin, according to the health department. The Eau Claire City-County Health Department says the county is now averaging 115-new cases per day, and there are 130-people in the hospital in Northwest Wisconsin. Director Lieske Giese says in comparison to influenza, the county usually sees 70-people in the hospital and two deaths per year.

Presidential Pit Stops Planned in WI

President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden will be in Wisconsin today. There are only four days until the 2020 General Election. President Trump will arrive in Green Bay for a rally at 2:30 p.m. The Biden campaign says the former vice president will be in Milwaukee for the first time since September, and that visit is expected about 6:30 this evening.
