The week of December 14th is expected to be the peak time for mailing or shipping packages in time for Christmas delivery.   Wisconsin officials with the United States Postal Service recommend a shipping date for first class mail of December 18th.  In some areas the postal service is expanding Sunday deliveries.  And for a fee, letter carriers will be delivering Priority Mail express packages on Christmas Day. 

The average cost of regular gas in Wisconsin remains among the lowest in the country.  Triple-A says the price per gallon in the Badger State is 1.79 today while the national average is 2.12.  A couple pit stops at the pump show us that the price at the pump is 1.90 in Madison and 2.05 in the Pierce-St. Croix County area.

An injured Wisconsin cornerback is declaring for the NFL Draft.  Rashad Wildgoose announced his decision to forgo the rest of the Badgers season and enter the draft on Twitter today.  Wildgoose, a junior, injured his shoulder last week against Northwestern and sat out the second half.  He played two games for the Badgers this season and had six tackles.

The number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are falling in Eau Claire County. After a week of high COVID rates, Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services COVID dashboard reports cases dropped by hundreds, and the number of hospitalizations dropped by around ten patients. The Wisconsin State Patrol is teaming up with the Illinois State Patrol Sunday to watch for drunk drivers. The Green Bay Packers play the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.  The Wisconsin State Patrol posted to Facebook encouraging people to watch the game at home.

We now know the name of the woman involved in this crash. UPDATE 11/29/20: The driver who was killed in this crash is identified as Misty Thostenson, of Gleason, WI. Thostenson was the lone occupant of the vehicle and it was determined through the investigation that she had been in the area visiting friends for the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s officially Christmastime in the Chippewa Valley. Fill those travel mugs with hot chocolate and take the crew for a drive-thru filled with “Ooooh’s and Ahhhh’s!” as the spirit of the season lights up Chippewa. Organizers lit the lights at Irvine Park last night to open The Christmas Village. This is the 33rd year for the village, and it will be open this year. The only change is that people are not being allowed to get out of their cars
