Police in Chippewa Falls are letting people know they are not raising money to buy bulletproof vests. The Police Department put out the word over the weekend that any calls or letters claiming otherwise are a scam. Someone has been trying to raise money, claiming it will go to the police department. The real PD said on Facebook that it’s a scam, and people should not make any donations.

Doctors at one of Wisconsin’s largest hospitals are telling people to stay home with a mild case of the coronavirus. Doctors at UW Health last week said hospitals across the state are full with serious cases of the virus, and they say anyone with mild symptoms should stay home. Dr. Jeff Pothof with UW Health says people should rest, stay hydrated, and isolate even from their families. Most people who test positive for the virus are declared recovered in two weeks.

Wisconsin’s governor is asking the federal government for more coronavirus vaccine doses. Governor Tony Evers and seven other Democratic governors wrote a letter on Friday asking for a share of doses that are being held in reserve. The request for more vaccine doses comes when Wisconsin hasn’t even used half of what it already has. As of Friday, the state’s Department of Health Services reported that doctors in the state have administered 123-thousand of the 266-thousand doses sent to the state. Wisconsin has been

President-elect Joe Biden’s dog, Major is about to become the first rescue dog to live in the White House.  The German Shepherd was adopted by the Bidens in 2018 from the Delaware Humane Association in Wilmington, which is hosting a special online event to commemorate the occasion.  The “Indoguration” of Major Biden happens online via Zoom and will raise funds to help other rescue animals.  Details are on the Delaware Humane Association Facebook page.

The Powerball jackpot is rolling over to more than half-a-billion dollars.  There were no winners in last night’s Powerball lottery, nor in Friday’s Mega Millions lottery, which is also worth over half-a-billion.  The revised estimated jackpot amount for Powerball now sits at 550-million dollars, while the Mega Millions is an estimated 600-million dollars, both before taxes. Mega Millions draws again this Tuesday evening followed on Wednesday night for Powerball’s next drawing.

 Thirteen people are facing federal charges in Wednesday’s riots at the U.S. Capitol.  Cameron Fairchild reports.  D.C. is increasing security measures around the Capitol.  Mayor Muriel Bowser says they’re getting ready for more protests ahead of the January 20th inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy adds that National Guard members may be allowed to carry guns while reinforcing the local police.  This comes after rioters broke into the Capitol building forcing Congress to stop electoral vote certification

A teenager is safe after getting rescued from falling off a bridge in Wausau.  Friday evening a State Trooper and another driver helped pull the 15-year old up from the side of the McCleary Bridge.  The girl was holding to the bridge railing by the fingers of one hand when the two rescuers pulled her back to safety.  A Wisconsin State Patrol tweet says she was taken to the hospital for evaluation.  The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

We now know the name of the woman involved in this accident. Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a single vehicle crash on County Highway E north of 155th Ave, east of Balsam Lake. A vehicle traveling northbound failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, striking a tree and other structures. The driver, 42 year old Christina Hatella, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors. The crash remains under
