Scammers Taking Shot at Vaccines

Officials warn of COVID-19 vaccine scammers.  This week Middleton Police along with the Federal Trade Commission are among the government offices to issue vaccine scam warnings.  Middleton Police tweeted Wednesday for anyone to report calls requesting payment in exchange for being placed on a list or be bumped to the front of the line for a vaccination.  The report says real authorized vaccination sites don’t ask for personal information such as social security numbers or personal banking or credit information.

Madison Man Picks Up 10th OWI

A man faces his tenth OWI charge.  The 77-year old was stopped late Thursday when he was found driving the wrong way on a interstate ramp in Madison.  State Troopers say Clarence Gage didn’t pass the field sobriety test.  He was arrested on what troopers discovered after a background check is his tenth operating a vehicle while under the influence charge.

Friday Feel Good: HO! HO! HO!logram Takes Santa Virtual

A shopping center near Houston went bigger this year, as Texas is known to do! They launched a pretty cool virtual Santa experience where kids talk one-on-one with a Santa hologram.  A local reporter got to try it out.  (The guy who plays him is in another room watching a video feed, so his responses aren’t pre-loaded.) WI Coronavirus Snapshot

Wisconsin Health officials confirm 15-hundred-and-six new COVID-19 cases in the last day.  The total number of positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic is nearly 468-thousand.  There were five additional deaths reported today, raising the statewide death toll to four-thousand-679.

Bucky Gets Boost

The Badgers snap a ten-game losing streak at Michigan State with a Christmas win over the Spartans.  D’Mitrik Trice led the Badgers this afternoon with 29 points in the 85-to-76 victory.  It’s the first win for the Badgers in East Lansing since 2004.   Wisconsin improved to 8-and-1 overall and 2-and-0 in the Big Ten.

WI Sees Bump At Pump

The average cost of regular gas in Wisconsin is up eleven-cents-a-gallon compared to a week ago.  Triple-A says the price per gallon in the Badger State is 2.05 while the national average is 2.21.  The price at the pump jumped 17-cents-a-gallon in Appleton today 2.02.  Drivers are paying 2.15-a-gallon in La Crosse, 2.02 in Madison and two-dollars in Milwaukee.

WI Coronavirus Snapshot

The latest coronavirus numbers in Wisconsin show some good news. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported that nearly 92- percent of people who’ve ever tested positive for the virus have now recovered. DHS also reported that the state’s seven-day positive average fell below nine-percent. But DHS, however, is also reporting an uptick in deaths. The state’s death rate is now at one-percent. Back The Blue Donations Used for Upgrades

Chippewa Falls Police are using 10-thousand-dollars from some former officers to upgrade their cameras. The Chippewa Falls Police Department Alumni Association donated the money this week. The department will use it to buy a new pole camera. Pole cameras are used to keep an eye on high crime areas. The money came from donations to Chippewa Falls’ Back the Blue campaign.
