An Eau Claire woman is facing 45-years-in prison, accused of trafficking a child. A criminal complaint says 45-year-old Catherine Ottinger is charged with sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old and causing a child to view sexual activity. Ottinger was arrested and charged in 2019, but the charges were dismissed.

Sojourner House is moving back to its downtown location. The local homeless shelter was being held in the old Hansen’s I-G-A building and before that in Hobbs Ice Arena to allow for better social distancing. The Eau Claire City-County Health Department held a vaccination clinic at Sojourner House last Friday. Many received the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is looking for people to participate in a frog study. They want to know how climate change may be affecting different species. The Eau Claire County Health Department is hosting a giveaway for Diabetes Alert Day. They say residents could win prizes for taking a diabetes risk test online. The link is posted on it’s Facebook page. They say the winner will be selected March 26th.

Police in Colorado are vowing to work day and night to find out why ten people lost their lives in a grocery store shooting.  NBC’s Dan Scheneman reports. The FBI is joining in the investigation into yesterday’s mass shooting that left ten people dead in Colorado.  The gunman is in custody.  Ten people, including a Boulder police officer, were killed. Prosecutors in Eau Claire are painting a picture of an accused drug dealer who would take advantage of women who bought drugs from him. The D.A. filed more than 30 charges against 57-year-old Mark Scoville Sr. yesterday. Police say a long list of women have come forward to say they took something at Scoville’s home, only to wake-up and find him sexually assaulting them. Scoville is looking at a life sentence if convicted.

The FBI is helping with the investigation into a missing woman whose remains were found on the Menominee Indian Reservation. Investigators yesterday said the remains found earlier this month belong to Katelyn Kelley. She’s been missing since last June. There’s no word as to how she died. The FBI and tribal police say their investigation is on-going.

Eau Claire could soon be getting some new riverfront homes. The city council is set to vote tonight on a proposal to turn the empty land along the river at Birch and Galloway streets into a housing development. The plan calls for a mix of apartments, condos, and duplexes. The developer, Rykey Properties, says it’d cost 17- million-dollars to build the new homes. Eau Claire city council member Andrew Werthmann says it’s just the kind of development the city needs.

The temperature is rising outside, but the rivers in Eau Claire are still plenty cold. The city’s fire department yesterday warned about cold water and the danger to anyone who falls in. Deputy Chief Allyn Bertrang says the water temperature in some places is still only 40 degrees, cold enough to cause hypothermia for anyone who goes into the water.
