Settlement Reached, Millions Awarded to WI

A consent judgment between the Wisconsin Attorney General and the Kroger supermarket chain is settled. The A-G had joined 30 other state generals in a lawsuit over the chain’s alleged role in the opioid crisis. The settlement is about one-point-four billion dollars where Wisconsin will receive about 22-million dollars. The A-G said “These and other funds that we’ve helped to secure will assist Wisconsin communities with this essential work.”

Sauk Co. Offers Hunting Options

It’s now easier for people with disabilities to go hunting.  Sauk County Parks & Recreation manager said the new hunting blind is now available for people in all-terrain wheelchairs to fit inside the 8×10 shelter and comfortably fit through the four-foot wide door.  A hunting blind is a type of shelter for hunters to help them blend into the environment to decrease detection.  The shelter has access to electric heat, outlets and lighting.   It’s located in White Mound County Park,

Transportation for attending the NFL draft just got more convenient.  Green Bay Metro Transit said it’s making adjustments to its schedule as it’s hosting the event on April 24th, 25th and 26th.  A special route has been created to accommodate large crowds that are anticipated in downtown Green Bay and Titletown areas where rides will be free.  Route 8 will detour starting April 13 to 26, April 28 to May 2 and route 9 will start its detour schedule April

Balloon’s Popped at National Weather Service

Weather balloon launches are being cut in half by the National Weather Service.  Weather balloons are resource that tell forecasters about atmospheric pressure, temperature, wind speeds and other critical information.  A NWS official said the temporary setbacks are part of the hundreds of employees that were laid off by DOGE last month.  Some say that the lack of accurate data can negatively impact timely weather forecasting and possibly the ability to warn the public of dangerous weather conditions. Crews Respond to EC Home Fire

A home is destroyed following a fire in Eau Claire.  The blaze broke out yesterday at a home on Homestead Road.  Crews were able to get the fire under control in just over an hour.  No one was hurt and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
