WI Sees COVID-19 Cases on Rise

The number of COVID-19 cases statewide is on the rise over the last few days.  Health Department officials confirm 840 cases today, which pushes the total number of cases to over 562-thousand.  There are 52 additional deaths reported today which raises the death toll to just under 64-hundred Wisconsinites. DWD Faces Overhaul

A new bill designed to update the state’s unemployment processing has been signed by the governor.  Governor Tony Evers signed the bipartisan bill today which was passed unanimously by the Assembly earlier this week and by the Senate last week.  The cost of the upgrades could range up to 100-million-dollars, but no funding is provided by the bill signed today.  It’s now up to the Department of Workforce Development to find a company to overhaul the system.

Marshfield Clinic Health System Looks Ahead to March Vaccines

Marshfield Clinic Health System announced today its focus will remain on vaccinating the current eligible population that includes those 65 years or older, frontline health care workers, police and fire personnel and corrections staff. K-9 Officer Assists in Marshfield Drug Bust

A 40-year-old Marshfield male was found to be in possession of over 90 grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop this morning.  An officer stopped the vehicle at 2:25 A.M. in the 800 block of South Central Avenue knowing the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. He then requested the assistance of K-9 Rika who alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle.  The resulting search yielded two bags of suspected methamphetamine totaling 16.9 grams,

Vote Moves Ahead for Altoona Development

Some Altoona residents aren’t in favor of a new housing development in the works. The city plan commission held a public meeting last night to discuss proposed townhomes near Lake Road and Moonlight Bay Drive that will create 36-new properties for single-families.  It’s a measure of just how much Brewer fans want to get back to the ballpark. The Brewers yesterday said tickets for spring training games in Arizona are beginning to sell-out. Eight games are already sold out, and the team says tickets for the rest are going quickly. The Brewers are allowing just 23-hundred fans in the stands at the spring training field in Phoenix.

Plea Deal Underway in Rusk Co. Murder Case

A plea deal in a Rusk County murder case could mean no prison time for one suspect. Prosecutors say Tristan Shober pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of being party to felony murder. He was 16 when police say he was with Adam Rosolowski and Joseph Falk when they killed Rosolowski’s grandparents last June. The deal could spare Shober any prison time. The D.A. says if a pre-sentencing report suggests probation, they will accept it.
