The top Republican in the Wisconsin Assembly expects lawmakers to vote on a plan to declare women’s sports in Wisconsin are for women only. WI Fire Danger Remains High

It continues to be a dry and dangerous spring for much of Wisconsin. The state’s Department of Natural Resources over the weekend said the fire danger for all of Wisconsin remains high. DNR says 161 fires this year have burned over one-thousand acres across the state so far this spring. Forecasters say dry brush and grass, paired with strong winds, make for perfect fire conditions in many counties across Wisconsin.

EC Man Picks Up 5th OWI

An Eau Claire man picks up a 5th OWI over the weekend. .It was on Sunday, April 18th at approximately 12:53 am, when a WI State Patrol Trooper stopped 36 year old Michael Skroch for traveling 80 mph in a 70 mph zone on I90 westbound at mile marker 71 in Eau Claire County. Tavern Shooting Believed to be Isolated

Three people are dead and two more are hurt after a shooting at a tavern in southeastern Wisconsin.  Here’s more with Lisa Taylor: The Kenosha County Sheriff’s office says early this morning shots were fired inside the Somers House Tavern.  So far, no suspects have been located.  Investigators believe the shooting was isolated and targeted.

Consumer Warning for Peloton Machines

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is issuing an “urgent warning” for Peloton’s Tread-Plus users to stop using the machine after the death of a child.  The agency issued a release Saturday that they have become aware of almost 40 accidents involving the treadmill, including “multiple reports of children becoming entrapped, pinned, and pulled under” the device.  The warning says the Tread-Plus should be kept away from kids under 16 and pets “at all times.”

Work Continues at WI DWD

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development is ramping up efforts to process its backlog of benefit claims.  Yesterday WKOW reported there are 30-thousand unattended claims.  That number doesn’t include 14-thousand who dispute the response to their initial claim.  DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek says she is confident the backlog will be handled expediently now that the total of administrative judges is up to 63 now in place compared to the original 17.  She says the judges will review the appeals and get rid

Flags Lowered to Honor the Victims of the FedEx Shootings

 Flags are flying at half-staff across the state to honor the victims of the FedEx shooting in Indianapolis.  President Joe Biden ordered flags of the United States to be lowered at all federal offices and installations until sunset on Tuesday.  Governor Tony Evers followed that with an order to lower the flag of Wisconsin at all state buildings, grounds and military installations.
