Drivers will have to watch their speeds as authorities take to the sky.  Officials say State Patrol pilots will be monitoring traffic in different counties by air this weekend.  They’ll be flying over Douglas, Kenosha and Fond du Lac Counties today, Saturday and Sunday respectively.  The State Patrol says aerial enforcement will make spotting offenders easier and hopes to reinforce its mission to improve traffic safety.

The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire shortly after 7pm this evening. Fire crews arrived on Germania St. to find smoke showing from the rear of the structure and found an interior room on fire.  The fire was extinguished while additional crews searched the remainder of the house to ensure everyone was out and accounted for. New child sexual assault charges are filed for a Trempealeau County man already on the sex offender registry.  Prosecutors say 57-year-old James Devenport was charged earlier this week, facing ten counts of sexual assault of a child.  Police say a now 36-year-old victim told them Devenport assaulted her hundreds of times before she turned 13, causing permanent damage.  The victim says the assaults only stopped when he was in prison for another sexual assault case.  Devenport is currently incarcerated and

Budget talks between Democratic Governor Tony Evers and Republicans in the state legislature were put on hold today.  The Joint Finance Committee’s executive session was scheduled at 1 p.m., but was paused just minutes before it was supposed to start.  Negotiations started up again earlier this week. A new budget will have to be decided by the end of this month, otherwise state funding will continue as is.

Ninety-percent of Wisconsinites say they believe access to affordable, high-quality child care is a problem statewide.  The survey was conducted by the University of Wisconsin Survey Center and the Department of Children and Families.  Nearly half of the families surveyed that already use child care report missing work or school to take care of their children.  DCF says Wisconsin families spend more than a billion dollars for child care for children under the age of five annually.

Home sales are falling in Wisconsin.  The Realtors Association Report’s May report shows a decline in sales for the third month in a row.  The report also shows closed sales fell two-point-one-percent over the past year.

Authorities are charging two people in connection with an attempted cyanide poisoning in Wisconsin. Dane County Deputy District Attorney William Brown says Paul Van Duyne and Andrea Whitaker are accused of plotting to poison Van Duyne’s ex-girlfriends. A month ago, one woman told authorities someone had broken into her car, and her water tasted strange after she returned to the vehicle. The water bottle was submitted to a lab and investigators found cyanide in the water. Authorities exercised search warrants
