Masks Come Off, Vaccines Continue in WI Counties

Masks are no longer required in most state buildings.  About two weeks ago, Governor Evers set today as the target to end mask requirements as the state continues to follow the recommendations from the CDC.  People who are fully vaccinated can go without masks and for the most part do not have to maintain social distancing indoors or outdoors.  However, all unvaccinated people are advised to wear a mask or face covering in state facilities. Neenah Plant Announces Closure

 A production plant in Neenah that employs 300 people is closing.  Clearwater Paper announced today it is moving away from the home tissue business but did not state its new direction.  It plans to exit the tissue business by the end of July.  Officials say they will be meeting with the union and the Department of Workforce Development to make sure employees receive benefits and training to find other work.

Tulsa Race Massacre Marks 100 Years

President Biden visits Oklahoma today to mark the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre.  NBC’s Tracie Potts reports. Hilltop Lounge New Site for Antigen Testing

The antigen testing clinic for COVID-19 has moved from McPhee and is now located in the Hilltop Lounge at UW-Eau Claire for all Blugolds and community members. For unvaccinated Blugolds, COVID testing is required once a week for students in campus housing and every other week for all other students, staff and faculty. Vaccinated individuals do not need to be tested unless symptoms arise. “WOOD” You Believe It’s Back?

After being closed for over a year, the Wisconsin Logging Museum in Carson Park will reopen to the public on June 3rd, 2021. Standard safety procedures and new summer hours will be in place.  The Wisconsin Logging Museum closed in March of 2020 following CDC recommendations. Airbnb Mishap in MKE

A Wisconsin teenager is lucky to be forgiven after breaking into an Airbnb where three sheriff’s deputies were staying.  Deputies from Montana posted their experience on Tik-Tok, saying they came back to their Airbnb in Milwaukee over the weekend to find a 19-year-old asleep in the house.  The Montana deputies were in Milwaukee for some emergency vehicle training.  They say they forgave the uninvited teen, noting he was drunk and made a mistake.

Police are collecting non-perishable food donations this week during a Cram the Cruiser event. Chippewa Falls Police say June 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., officers will be in the Family Fare parking lot collecting items. Donations are going to the L.E. Philips CDC Outreach Office.
