On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 3:09 p.m., the Barron County 911 Center received a call of a motorcycle crash on Hwy 53 between Chetek and New Auburn. Local Vaccines Offered for Children

Beginning today, children 12-15 years old are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. In Eau Claire County, this means an additional ~4,000 people will be now eligible for vaccination. Attempted Homicide Charges For Black River Falls Man

Prosecutors are moving ahead with attempted first-degree homicide charges against a Black River Falls man who authorities say shot his wife. The D.A. filed the charges yesterday against 36-year-old Johnathan Heller. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says Heller shot his wife back on Wednesday of last week. No one is saying why, though the charges against Heller also include domestic battery charges.

Trempealeau Moves Forward as 2nd Amendment Sanctuary

The full Trempealeau County Board will decide if the county will become a Second Amendment sanctuary next month. A number of people spoke out against the stand last night, but it didn’t change any minds. By declaring itself a Second Amendment sanctuary, Trempealeau County will officially go on the record as refusing to enforce some state and federal gun laws that leaders say trample on people’s gun rights.

WI Vaccine Cliff Notes: Shots Offered for Kids, Chippewa Co. Slows, State Numbers Plateau

 Add Wisconsin to the list of states offering the coronavirus vaccine to kids as young as 12. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday announced it will begin offering the shots to kids in junior high and high school starting today. The CDC approved the Pfizer vaccine for younger teens yesterday. ACLU of Wisconsin Pans Police Reform Measures

 The ACLU in Wisconsin is lining-up against the state’s latest police reforms. The group yesterday criticized the four plans passed by the state Senate on Tuesday. The ACLU’s Tomás Clasen says one reform gives police officers too much say over who decides discipline against other officers, while another sends more money to police departments across the state. The ACLU says lawmakers should instead ‘shift’ resources away from police departments and into communities of color across the state.

The latest Rich States, Poor States report from the American Legislative Exchange Council ranks Wisconsin 15th in the nation.
