The Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity is wrapping up the construction of the first home build of 2021. A house blessing ceremony was held for Brittany Risler and her three children Ayvah, Brielle, and Nolan at their new home. The Risler family became a CVH4H Partner Family in 2020. Working with the Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity and alongside volunteers, Brittany now has a safe and affordable please to call home for herfamily. Now, it’s on to the next project!

The high court ruled today that Circuit Court Judge Scott Woldt is suspended for violating rules and ethics of Judiciary conduct. The suspension begins August second. Six separate cases were cited in the high court’s decision including Woldt’s behavior during a 2015 sentencing hearing when he displayed a gun in an attempt to make a point to the defendant.

Authorities in Dane County confirmed the human remains found last week are those of 50-year-old Bart Halderson. He and his wife have been missing since the Fourth of July. The D.A. in Madison is expected to charge the Halderson’s 23-year-old son, Chandler, with their murder. Bart Halderson’s wife, Krista, remains missing.

A school spokesperson yesterday said neither the school board or the superintendent’s office has decided whether fully vaccinated kids and teachers will be required to wear masks. The university yesterday released the results of a survey looking into discrimination in the athletic department. The survey show only a tiny fraction of students think there is a problem with discrimination at the school. The survey came after a scandal in 2019 involving some university football players and a perceived racist message online.

The state’s Department of Health Services increased last week’s vaccine count to just over 36-thousand doses. Originally, DHS was reporting just 22-thousand. But, the 36-thousand doses in one week is still the lowest since about Christmas. DHS says just under 51- percent of people in the state have gotten one shot of the vaccine so far.
