Local Hospitalizations Remain Low

You can count the number of people in the hospital with the coronavirus in Eau Claire on one hand. Hospital managers say they are seeing a few new coronavirus cases in the hospital but not many. Vaccines on Tap for Some Molson Coors Employees

Corporate workers at Molson Coors and new hires are going to have to get their coronavirus shots. The company yesterday said some of its workers will be required to get vaccinated. Molson CEO Gavin Hattersley said in an email to the company that people who work in the brewery, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities won’t have to get the shots because their jobs allow for social distancing. WI Doses Remain Steady

The spike in new coronavirus cases is not pushing more people to get the coronavirus vaccine. The state’s Department of Health Services says doctors last week gave-out just over 52-thousand vaccine doses. That’s about where Wisconsin’s dose total has been for the past three weeks. In all, DHS says doctors and nurses have administered nearly six-million vaccine doses since late last year. A little over 53-percent of people in Wisconsin have gotten one dose of the vaccine. 600 Pull Sleeves Up for a Cream Puff

The governor says just over 600 people got their coronavirus shot and a free cream puff at the State Fair this year. Governor Tony Evers yesterday said 608 people cashed-in on the giveaway at the fair. The governor says it’s great news. Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services says the most recent seven-day average for coronavirus cases in the state is just over 700 new cases.

EC Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A former Metropolis employee was arrested. It was on August 16th that the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brent C. Nicolet, 24, of Eau Claire after an investigation by Detectives. Nicolet was a staff member of the Metropolis Resort at the time of arrest. A charge of Possession of Child Pornography has been referred to the Eau Claire County District Attorney’s Office. An initial court appearance is set for August 17, 2021, at 11a.m. Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Detectives

Fort McCoy Planned As Base for Afghan Refugees

Murderer Found Incompetent For Sentencing

A Neenah man convicted of killing his grandparents is found incompetent for his sentencing.  Alexander Kraus was in Outagamie County Court today where a judge found him not competent to proceed and ordered additional treatment and evaluation.  A jury found Kraus responsible for the 2019 killings but also ruled that he suffered from a mental disease at the time of the crime.
