Packers Could Pack up for Texas

Folk Music in the Valley exhibit. The museum will operate Labor Day weekend 12-5p on September 4th, 5th, and 6th. Volunteers Head to Help

Volunteers from Wisconsin have started heading south to help with hurricane relief efforts. The Wisconsin American Red Cross Director says more volunteers will be needed in the coming days. Volunteers will help with medical aid, meals, clothing, and temporary housing.

Therapy Dogs Fetch Local Roles

Therapy dogs are helping veterans at Klein Hall in Chippewa Falls. President Biden signed a law requiring the Department of Veteran Affairs to create a five-year program that will provide service dogs and training to veterans with PTSD. Wisconsin Sends Help

 Wisconsinites are among the hundreds of Red Cross volunteers helping with the Hurricane Ida relief efforts in Louisiana. Officials with the Red Cross of Wisconsin said more could be deployed if needed. La Crosse Looks Ahead

The City of La Crosse is planning big things for its downtown area.  On Monday night, the City Planning Commission approved the Imagine 2040 La Crosse Downtown Plan that is now 18 months in the works.  Hundreds of meetings, listening sessions, community feedback, and workshops have led to this point.  The goal is to make downtown more connected in creating a network of neighborhoods that incorporate the natural environment and maximize real estate opportunities across the area.

Health Officials Remind Residents of Vaccine Incentives

Residents of Eau Claire who aren’t yet vaccinated against COVID-19 still have an opportunity to get a hundred dollars from the state for getting their shot.  Since the incentive was announced August 20th, local health officials are reporting that about 600 Eau Claire County residents have gotten their first dose, making them eligible to receive the payment.  Still, health professionals in the county are saying the incentivized program isn’t having the impact they had hoped.  Wisconsinites have until September 6th to

UW Stevens Point Updates Fan Requirements

The UW-Stevens Point athletics department is updating its policy on spectators for fall sports.  Spectators will be required to wear masks for all indoor events, regardless of vaccination status.  There is no requirement regarding face coverings for any outdoor events, according to the university.  With that, those who are not vaccinated are recommended to wear a mask even outdoors.
