Woman Charged with Neglect After Shooting

 A 19-year-old Wisconsin woman is being charged with neglect after shooting a friend while playing with a cat.  The woman went to use the laser sight on a handgun so the cat could chase the light.  As she was handling the weapon the gun went off and a man was hit in the thigh.  According to a criminal complaint filed Thursday alcohol may have contributed to the accidental shooting.

VA Hospital Launches New Center

The VA hospital in Madison launches a new cancer center.  Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough was on hand yesterday for the ribbon cutting ceremony at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital.  The new center can provide radiation therapy and other forms of cancer treatments for three-hundred patients.  Work on the VA’s 13-point-five-thousand square foot cancer center began back in 2018.

WI Vaccination Rates Reach 50%

Half of Wisconsonites are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  Fresh data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services yesterday confirmed 50-percent of all residents are now fully vaccinated in Wisconsin.  The percentage calculation is based on all residents, not only on those who are eligible to get the vaccine.  The health office says of eligible adults now six out of ten are fully vaccinated in Wisconsin.  In a statement, Governor Tony Evers said, “It’s an incredible milestone.” CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM WI DHS.

Packers Parking Patterns Pivot

Traffic pattern changes will be put in place during Green Bay Packers home games.  Beginning tomorrow when the Packers host the Houston Texans, Holmgren Way and Armed Forces Drive will be closed two hours before the game and will last until two hours after the game.  The City of Ashwaubenon has posted a list and a map of the road closures.

WI Sees A Little Dip

The average price for regular gas in Wisconsin is a penny a gallon lower than a week ago.  Heading into the weekend Triple-A says the price at the pump in the Badger State is three-dollars-and-four-cents a gallon today.  The national average is three-18.  Drivers are paying three-ten-a-gallon in Kenosha County, three-oh-eight in Eau Claire and La Crosse, three-oh-two in Madison, two-96 in Green Bay and two-88 in Fond du Lac.

Pedestrian Incident Under Investigation

A pedestrian was struck in Washburn County. It was on 08-13-21, at approximately 8:33 a.m., law enforcement from Spooner Police Department, Washburn County Sheriff’s Department and the WI State Patrol responded to a car versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 63 in the city of Spooner. Barron Co. Official Seek Info. After Property Damage Discovered

Officials are looking for information about damaged property. Recently, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a report of farmland that had been damaged as a result of a vehicle driving off of the ATV trail and recklessly through a field. The damaged field was just west of the Barron County ATV intensive use area which is one of the most heavily traveled ATV trails in Barron County.
