UW-Stout Hosts Real Meeting on A.I.

Wisconsin’s next A.I. meeting will hear from both big tech and local news managers. The Study Committee on the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence will meet tomorrow at UW-Stout in Menomonie. Representatives from both Google and Microsoft are scheduled to speak to lawmakers. So are local news managers out of La Crosse. The panel is trying to find ways where Wisconsin can regulate artificial intelligence, and find out where AI’s biggest threats are. The hope is to have something for lawmakers

Go Bo Go!

Bo Ryan is now a hall of fame coach. The former Badger basketball coach was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame yesterday. Ryan coached the University of Wisconsin from 2001 til 2016, and led the Badgers to the 2015 National Championship game against Duke.  Ryan is the third Badger to be inducted into the Hall.

The Packers took care of business, and easily took care of the Arizona Cardinals yesterday. Green Bay cruised to a 34-13 win. Jordan Love finished the day with 258 yards and four touchdowns. Nine different Packers caught a pass from Love. The win improves Green Bay’s record to 4-2, and leaves them tied with every other NFC North team but the Vikings.

Car Vs. Buggy Crash

On Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle crashing into a horse-and-buggy at the intersection of WI-US HWY 61 and County Road W, in the Township of Scott. Marcia Gumtow (60) of Fennimore, Wisconsin, was operating her vehicle south on US HWY 61, and she struck a horse-and-buggy crossing the highway. The operator of the buggy was Andy Gingerich (23) of Boscobel, Wisconsin.

Harris-Walz Ticket Returns to WI

Bernie Sanders won’t be the only one in Wisconsin on Monday campaigning for the Harris-Walz ticket. The campaign announced in a press release that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will be doing his own campaigning for the Harris-Walz ticket in Eau Claire on Monday. Walz was in Eau Claire in August when he joined Vice President Harris in a joint rally. The press release did not include the time or location of Walz’s visit as we are expecting those details Monday.

Deadly Crash in Chippewa County

A crash claimed the life of a Sheldon woman. It was a bit after 8:30 on the morning of Saturday October 12th, when the Wisconsin State Patrol reports that a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer was southbound on County Road G approaching State Hwy 64. Initial investigation shows the Trailblazer failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of State Hwy 64. Massive Deer Poaching Ring Exposed

A massive deer poaching ring has been exposed following a months long investigation.  Fond Du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources believe over 100 deer were illegally killed between Spring 2023 and July 2024.  The crimes took place in an area covering the counties of Fond Du Lac, Washington and Dodge.  Four suspects have been identified all from Campbellsport, three 16-year-old males and one 36-year-old female.

Local Scam Under Investigation

The Eau Claire Police Department is warning the public of fraud cases.  An Anoka County missing persons case led Eau Claire Police officers to solving a fraud case.  Officers found the missing person in a Eau Claire hotel who was there to pay who they believed to be an FBI agent.  The fraud suspect entered the hotel as police spoke with hotel staff and was identified as 40-year-old Chetankumar Patel.  Police  recovered  32-thousand-dollars. Salvation Army Preps for Sounds of the Season

It’s not quite Halloween, but the Salvation Army is getting ready for its Red Kettle season. The Salvation Army of Dane County held its City Barbeque & Bourbon Red Kettle Reception yesterday. The Salvation Army uses the fundraiser as a way to both raise some money, and get people thinking about donating during the Christmas season.  The Salvation Army’s Red Kettles won’t appear outside local stores til next month.
