Wisconsin lottery players have their hearts set on winning tomorrow night’s Powerball.  No one has hit the game’s top prize since May 31st.  The estimated jackpot for tomorrow night’s drawing now stands at 482 million dollars. 

A return home appears to be just what the Eau Claire Express needed.  After losing four consecutive games on the road this week, the Express won at Carson Park Thursday night.  They beat the Rochester Honkers two to nothing.  The next game for the Express happens tonight when they host Waterloo. Authorities are releasing the name of an Eau Claire County Jail inmate who died at the facility this week. Authorities found 39-year-old Robert Manning-Harris dead on Monday. His cause of death remains undetermined. Autopsy results have shown no evidence of trauma.

Authorities were quick to respond Wednesday morning after a man reportedly suffering an opioid overdose was found outside the Vernon County Courthouse.  The man was discovered inside a vehicle in the courthouse’s parking lot.  The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office reports the man was taken to a local hospital for care and was later released.

A journalist with Wisconsin roots has been found alive after being reported missing.  Rescue crews spotted Alec Luhn on a rocky terrain waving at them Wednesday morning.  He was found with injuries to his legs and feet, later revealed to be a broken femur.  Luhn was on a solo hike in a Norwegian national park last week before his family reported him missing.  His family began to worry when he missed his flight back home Monday.

Applications are now being accepted to fill a vacancy on the Chippewa Falls City Council.  Folks interested in filling the opening for District Four Alderperson must live in the district.  Letters of application can be emailed and must be received by August 31st. Over 110-million dollars have been approved for building projects across Wisconsin.  Governor Tony Evers announced Wednesday that the State Building Commission approved two projects.  One seeks to improve sidewalk infrastructure at the State Capitol, while the other involves the demolition of several buildings belonging to three University of Wisconsin campuses.  Evers stressed the importance of investing in Wisconsin’s future in the announcement. 

The Eau Claire Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department’s 2025 Doggie Swim Fest is just around the corner.  Registrations are being accepted now from dog owners who want to allow their pets to take a dip in the Fairfax Pool before it is drained for the season.  The cost is fifteen dollars per dog.  More details on the August 24th event can be found WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is issuing a public health alert for Cured and Smoked Teriyaki Beef produced by Holmen Locker & Meat Market in Holmen. This alert is due to the product being misbranded and containing undeclared allergens.
