Created in 2021, the Shipyard District is officially recognized in Green Bay. Yesterday, officials with the city announced the new partnership with the district. Mayor Eric Genrich spoke at a press conference about his visions for the new district. Housing, business development and redevelopment of the land were the three main points in the mayor and city leaders’ vision. The area spans from West Mason Street to Lombardi Avenue and South Ashland Avenue to the Fox River.

More than four-billion dollars is earmarked for Wisconsin infrastructure in Governor Evers’ 2025-2027 budget proposal. The money would go toward major projects in 26 counties. Evers says all of the investments in his proposal will create more than seven-billion dollars in economic activity and support more than 37-thousand jobs. The budget also includes one-point-six billion dollars for the Universities of Wisconsin and 325-million for correctional institutions.

The Eau Claire City Council is considering a resolution that would ask Congress not to make cuts to several federal programs. Councilmen Roderick Jones and Andrew Werthmann introduced the resolution, which would ask that Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and Social Security programs don’t face budget cuts. That’s in response to a U.S. House plan that would cut 880-billion.  A public input session will be hosted tonight, and the Council will vote on the resolution tomorrow.

A Madison children’s hospital is expanding. American Family Children’s Hospital says it’s adding almost 50 rooms to its sixth floor, which was left empty when the hospital opened in 2007 to leave room for future growth. The hospital says it had to turn away more than a hundred children in 2023 since it didn’t have enough available beds. Construction is scheduled to start next year, and the new units will open in late 2027.

On Sunday March 9th, 2025, the Eau Claire Fire Department (ECFD) responded to 520 Carson Park Dr for an ice & water rescue for an individual that fell through the ice near Braun’s Bay Pavilion. First arriving fire crews and several Eau Claire Police Department members discovered one victim in distress in the water holding onto an ice shelf 75 yards from shore.
